Two employees seen on video asking a black guest to leave a Portland, Oregon, hotel after he took a phone call in the lobby have been let go, the facility said Saturday on Twitter.

The incident took place December 22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Portland.
Jermaine Massey was in the hotel lobby when a security guard informed him that police were on their way to escort him off the property.

Massey accused the guard of “harassing” him, and in a statement provided to CNN by his attorneys, characterized the incident as “calling his mother while black.”

“We have terminated the employment of the two men involved in the mistreatment of Mr. Massey,” the hotel said on Twitter.

I hope Hilton still gets its ass sued off, for damages, etc .. but I guess we shall see.

Massey is being represented by a very aggressive progressive attorney firm, so it could happen.

This is good to hear. Thanks for the update. But being from Oregon, I’m still in disbelief that this would happen in Portland.

..somewhere in the South not Oregon or Maine.   Of course, there’s pockets of ignorance everywhere.

Initially I thought the security people had targeted him thinking “A black man can’t be a guest at the hotel – he must be a guy off the street.”

But I read his side of it, and he says he had his room key in his hand the whole time and showed it to them.

So, why did they tell him to leave?  Were they THAT racist that they didn’t want a black guy to remain a guest…. because it’s now not 1950 Alabama; it’s 2018 Portland and obviously they’d get fired by management for that, as well as being ruined on social media.

      I’m in WTF land.
