But don’t get your hopes up. Won’t get through Senate….
The bill would remove marijuana from the list of illegal drugs under the federal Controlled Substances Act and would end criminal penalties for growing, distributing, or possessing marijuana.
Democratic leaders initially planned to bring up the bill for a vote in September but postponed consideration after some Democrats objected to the measure taking up floor time ahead of the election.

The damned cowards didn’t want to commit just in case some of their more conservative constituents would vote for them. Gawd, these people are so transparent. 🤦♀️

What’s the basis for prediction that it won’t pass Senate? Has somebody done a head count of how many senators for and against?

Though he could actually get an epiphany, and vindictive little orange bastard that he is, might actually pass the bill, thinking that it might be a slap in the face to “establishment Democrats” (corporatist shills on the Big Pharma payroll)
It would be ironic as Hell, but I would dare the Turd Way to oppose it, if he actually did so.
Don’t bet your soul that this could actually happen, but if the Orange Imbecile were even half serious about setting up a 2024 run, this might be a good move to get some Libertarian types on his side.

And Biden would pay Hell to get it undone!
BTW, @satan…. are you going to summon either one of those clowns to join you …. or will the US voters be stuck with the same two “choices” in 2024?

about whether something like this should be done, they have no moral stance on it, they just see it in terms of votes.

Oh how I would love to see bill before Biden and the excuses given by his coho lipped, ass kissing flunkies when he vetoes it!

@dejean111, @voltairine asked why I thought this bill wouldn’t pass in the Senate. I think you answered that question.

Not really an answer. Here’s what we know now, 120 cosponsors in House, 119 D 1 R:
https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/3884/cosponsors?searchResultViewType=expandedHigh number of sponsors good sign, partisan divide not. If the actual vote is also highly partisan and polarized, that’s not good news for Senate, where AFAIK only Paul can be counted on voting for legalization from Republicans. Other than that I don’t know.

It’s sponsored in Senate by none other than Kamala the cop 😀
So, in the unlikely but not totally impossible case that it would pass Senate, Biden would not stop legislation that his VP wants to own big way. As for getting enough votes from R, Senate majority leader seems the main obstacle, but there is still some chance that some R senators might vote according to their constituents in states where referanda have legalized cannabis.Aloha!

So not surprised. She also had marijuana legalization as part of her platform and she was in favor of Medicare for All until she backed away from it.

Because they were scared of the optics of how it would look during a pandemic but marijuana did well in the election so they’re adjusting.

Looking from higher, you see further.
Cannabis is very potent medicine against authoritarianism. As well as for creating and experiencing music, getting in the flow and letting music recreate you and redirect your attention to Truth and Beauty with a beginners mind.
We are all unique in our difference, and no medicine suits everybody. Sinking in so deep in your hole of depression that you start wanting to make others as depressed and hopeless as you feel, is bad medicine.

Trust me, I smoked my fair share in my youth and would have a garden full of it if I had a garden. 😉
My argument is doing THIS during a damn pandemic instead of passing a stimulus for the citizens instead. Their priorities are screwed up. REALLY screwed up.
And, I’m not depressed. I lived this way before the pandemic and will live this way AFTER the pandemic. Minus the deadliness.

Sorry, I’m slow. Didn’t realize you meant all members of House lighting up immediately after the vote and warp speed floating to Speaker’s fridge for serious Hihgen Daaz munchies and forgetting all about pandemic etc. legislation work for the rest of their season while stuffing their sideways. 🙂
Aloha!

Or in this case……. work out a stimulus package and vote on this bill.
