    How about a "veterans" group?

It would be interesting I think.  We could tell war stories, warrior culture, veteran news; , and all kinds of military stuff, pro and con.

    1. Well, I'm a veteran. I'd join it.

I don’t have very many actual war stories because I was lucky. Got a few good fleecing of officers stories, though. Not to mention experiences with other cultures and sailors from other countries. That includes Russians. Oh, no! :tinfoilhat:

      2. thamks

BTW, did you stay at least 15 kilometers from the Czecslovokian border while on leave in accordance with the instructions on your DA form 31?

        3. It never came up. I was in the Pacific Fleet the whole time.

The closest I ever got to Europe when I was in the Navy was the Persian Gulf.

          5. I wish I had joined the navy instead of the army

I would probably be an admiral by now.

BTW, I spent a few years at sea as a shrimp boat captain, just like forrest gump.

            6. I joined the Navy because I needed a job at the time, I'd burned too many

bridges in my impulsive youth, the Air Force wasn’t hiring, and the Army and Marine Corps appeared to involve more work, not to mention more danger to my own precious self.

Too late, I found out I could have joined the Canadian Navy. Twice the pay, twice the shore time, beer on board, and Canadian citizenship after, I forget, 6 years? Something like that.

              8. The coast guard's cool

Too bad trump’s cutting it’s budget, though.

They saved my life a few times.

                9. I served with some puddle pirates who were on my destroyer for awhile.

There was this dubious experiment with using Navy warships for drug interdiction in the late 1980’s. The thing I most remember about that deployment was a port of call in Mazatlan. We didn’t catch a single smuggler.

One of the Coast Guard folks said they didn’t have to worry about patrolling anywhere near Cuban waters, because smugglers avoided Cuban patrols like the plague.

        10. OK. I've got to be admitted to that group first, though. I sent a request.

        13. Read it. It's been a few decades since I actually read Jung, interestingly

enough in the same class where I read the great American psychologist Dewey’s stuff with his emphasis on the power of habit, but I can say that my own personal experiences have taught me that synchronicity is very real. I don’t understand how it all works, but it’s there.
