how did we miss Warren's 20-foot inflatable dog ceremony?

Big structural Bailey. Over the last few days, these words have come to haunt me. The phrase tolls in my head, an incantation that conjures no spell but my own bafflement. It’s ingenious in its complete vacuity. Big. Structural. Bailey. Big. Structural. Bailey. A crowd of Warren supporters chants it limply. Bailey himself is a giant inflatable golden retriever—Warren’s pet, who already has a Twitter of his own. Two pennies that are supposed to be attached to its collar instead appear stamped right into its chest, looking more than anything like two pancaked copper breasts. Warren herself strides towards the Bailey superstructure, coursing with power, arms raised as if summoning a demon. Bailey towers over his master like a golden calf built in effigy of some eldritch god. Big. Structural. Baal.
The structural Bailey comes on the heels of Warren’s Meme Team, whose immediately suspect stated mission is to “save the nation with selfies and memes.” I would have taken this as a little tongue-in-cheek hyperbole, but further research indicates that for the Warren campaign, technocratic memery is a serious strategy. They have internalized the narrative that Donald Trump’s ascent was in part fueled by the 4chan set’s penchant for manically generating absurd image macros. The strategy that they’ve derived from that analysis, evidently, is to beat the trolls at their own game. Anyone familiar with 4chan would deem that highly inadvisable.

The WTFs may outnumber the likes on this post.

otoh can you imagine how Biden’s pickled brain would’ve handled the unexpected sight of a giant dog with two pennies hanging off its collar?!

I saw them discussing it on the Useful Idiots podcast -sorry I don’t have a link. It was pretty hilarious they talked about how with her arms up she looked kind of like Cornholio. I think #Lizholio was a trending hashtag for awhile. Lol

Good memes have to be organic. Forced memes are always bad. They just don’t work as astroturf; people can instinctively tell that something is off, leading to mockery or simple indifference. Ironically, stuff like this may provide good source material for actual memes.

I’m gonna join the WTF crowd. David Doel or Jimmy Dore showed this footage and it was honestly like, what the Hell is Liz doing?! I know she has a golden retriever who’s no doubt a major part of her family, but the giant inflatable golden retriever dog ceremony was just… unuuuuuuusual.

apparently it was a surprise by a union backing her or her own local campaign members, I don’t care: it wouldn’t be impossible for Sanders to be presented with such a scene, but he wouldn’t back off from Single Payer if it were the incidental topic of a hundred bizarre rituals
