Stacy Blatt was in hospice care last September listening to Rush Limbaugh’s dire warnings about how badly Donald Trump’s campaign needed money when he went online and chipped in everything he could: $500.
It was a big sum for a 63-year-old battling cancer and living in Kansas City on less than $1,000 per month. But that single contribution — federal records show it was his first ever — quickly multiplied. Another $500 was withdrawn the next day, then $500 the next week and every week through mid-October, without his knowledge — until Blatt’s bank account had been depleted and frozen. When his utility and rent payments bounced, he called his brother, Russell Blatt, for help.
What the Blatts soon discovered was $3,000 in withdrawals by the Trump campaign in less than 30 days. They called their bank and said they thought they were victims of fraud.
“It felt,” Russell Blatt said, “like it was a scam.”

Once and dick, always a dick. Let’s do yellow text on a white background explaining what the check in the box means. That is a good one.

The other part is ashamed of that reaction.

Nah, they didn’t deserve to be ripped off. And it was a rip-off, for all that it may have been ‘legal’.
Recurring monthly donations was the default for online donors — but you had to search through the fine print to know that, then uncheck a box to opt out.
Then later on they added another prechecked box to *double* the person’s contribution.
The kind of people who set up things like that are crooks, whether its legal or not. The intention is to deceive, and they’ve trained a whole couple of generations not to read the fine print.

If the Dems a/o Biden had done this it would have gotten lots more comments here.

this is not a Democratic Party satellite site, and because the election is over, and seems sort of repetitive to keep yelling TRUMP! That is what it looks like to me, but then I am definitely not a Democrat OR a Republican, so I don’t really care at this point. I would have thought, really, that there would be sentiments more like ‘hey they got what they deserved” or whatever.
I would think there would be more comments here about donating to AOC and then seeing AOC give that money to other politicians. We already know Trump is a dick. Unless, of course, it is thought that Trump is going to run again and we have years and years of TRUMP!!!! expositions to wade through. Maybe it is hoped that yelling TRUMP!!! will take attention away from Biden and the current lust for war situation?

I work for one of them. And I’m damn proud of that.
“There’s a new spirit abroad in the land. The old days of ‘grab and greed’ are on their way out. We’re beginning to think of what we owe the other fellow, not just what we’re compelled to give him. The time’s coming… when we shan’t be able to fill our bellies in comfort while others go hungry, sleep in warm beds while others shiver in the cold.... And God willing, we’ll live to see that day…” Basil Rathbone,"Sherlock Holmes Faces Death" (Universal 1943)

We knew it.
I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

Trump’s been doing this shit his whole crooked life and I have minimal sympathy for any regular person giving this millionaire any money for any reason.
All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.

How many contractors did he simply refuse to pay, but filed bankruptcy on? How many law firms quit working for him because he wouldn’t ever pay them? Trump’s whole career has been one con game after the other.
Still, this was a very low thing to do. No surprise, but low. I’d never heard of a default weekly payment option before. I’ve seen monthly ones, but never a weekly one.

I’ve never heard of a default that *doubled* your donation, in addition to turning it into a recurrent donation either.
Hopefully a good learning experience to the person who put their faith in Dear Leader.
