The other day, I got a red rejection message after clicking on a Like button.  Is there a new policy on JPR that I am unaware of?

@deadpool says that the software automatically logs you out after two weeks. I find on my big computer, which I shut down every day, I have to log in every time I start it up again.

When you have a problem like this be sure to note the type of computer, system version and browser you are using. Frequently these things are system or browser related.

I am being prompted to log in every 30 minutes!  WTF is going on?

Even more frequent than that for me. It’s getting very tiresome.

2:30 am or so here – I have had to log back in 3 or 4 times in the last half hour or so.  I am trying to see if there is a trigger for this – clicking on an outside link or something.    Maybe.  Updates being done, not necessarily on just this site, but higher level.  Maybe.  Interesting!

I am not bothered by this, as it is just a click to login, I see it as a problem to be solved, is all.  But then I worked in IT for a very long time!  Nothing is/was ever obvious.  I am reminded of what a comedian said about guys being expected to be able to fix car problems.  He said that, as a guy, if he had to open the hood and look in, when a car stopped running, he was hoping desperately for a giant off/on switch that had somehow clicked to “off”, and all he had to do was turn it back on.  I need to go back to sleep.

Over the last 24 hours, my MacBook Pro running Safari 10.14.6 (Mojave) requires a intermittent episode of having to login, whether I’m making a post within a thread, or open up another tab in Safari and come BACK to that thread. @deadpool @sffh

IOW, no rhyme or reason. I see at the same time that our front page was being updated.

    Me also.

3 times yesterday on a Windows 7 Pro and again this morning, just a few minutes ago.
Also yesterday, on a MacBook Pro, and again this morning…

Well, before I updated my MacBook Pro’s OS, I think I was accepting cookies, and coincidentally, my needing to re-login issue seems to have resolved.

Appreciate the explanations from our fearless leaders. I always check this section, meanwhile.

I don’t shut my computer down, so I have left this up since yesterday. Refreshing the page said I was still logged on, but as soon as I went to another page, I was logged off. I haven’t noticed a pattern, just that the time of being logged on is short.

‘Cause that's what it would be. "Tea and cake or death? Tea and cake or death? Tea and cake or death!" Students with beards, (mimes demonstrating with picket signs) "Tea and cake or death! Tea and cake or death! Little Red Cookbook! Little Red Cookbook!" ‘Cause, "Cake or death?" That's a pretty easy question. Anyone could answer that.

O-K everyone, I have looked into this from an outside perspective, as in complaints from members of tons of site out there. Lots of people have login issues all over the net that sound just like these…..

Guess what seems to be the culprit?

    Your cookie settings.

We require cookies to be loaded up so we know that you’re granted permission to even be on our site, and they may keep track from page to page, NOT to track you (we don’t get any information from the cookies that I know of at all) but to keep you in the site. If this chain is broken, you automatically have to log back in.

And there doesn’t seem to be any way around this issue. The vast majority of issues are issues resolved by making sure your browser accepts cookies.

@deadpool , correct me if I have the wrong info here.

ON EDIT: I don’t have any of these issues, and I’m running the real shit. Lenovo IdeaPad with Intel i5 and Chrome. You can’t get anything with bigger issues all over the place than that. HOWEVER I certainly have set my security settings so I can stay logged in, so I have no problems yet.
