I don’t think I get pi$$ed off easily, but this did as soon as I heard it. He said

“And I might add, by the way, I think what happened in Portland, where a, one of the Trump guys riding along in vans inciting response, shooting rubber bullets I guess, or paintballs, apparently there was someone shot by someone in the crowd, with a bullet, killed.

“I think that person should meet the legal requirements of whatever that calls for, it should be investigated, and it should follow through on what needs to be done. Let the judicial system work. Let’s make sure justice is done.”

While it’s very hard to get facts, yes, there were confrontations with the Trump caravan. However, the reports are that the victim was shot after the caravan had left. Here’s what Politico says at https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/30/portland-shooting-patriot-prayer-405512 :

It wasn’t clear if the shooting was related to the clashes between Trump supporters and counterprotesters in Portland, which has become a flashpoint in the national Black Lives Matter protests since George Floyd was killed in May and an increasing centerpiece in Trump’s law-and-order re-election campaign theme.

The Daily Mail in the UK reports at https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8683847/Friend-Patriot-Prayer-supporter-shot-dead-Portland-says-hunted-executed.html :

Urging the president to send troops to Portland, Pappas added: ‘Jay is dead because he believed something different from them. He did not do anything to earn a bullet in the chest.’

He denied there was any confrontation in the moments before the shooting, saying: ‘We had no idea who this guy was, I know he didn’t know who Jay was. I think they isolated us and thought they could get away with it

These stories are as neutral as I can find. What really, really, irritates me is that the candidate who is running for the job of President didn’t bother to even get the basic facts.

It appears the story has fallen out of the news, but he’s a Presidential candidate and should have access to better sources than I do. For me, it shows an absolute lack of interest in finding the details, just an interest how someone left nameless was shot and killed and a way to blame it on the other candidate.

And this is the guy that’s supposed to have empathy?!

I wasn’t aware of this–thanks.  I don’t think he has any empathy.  Heck, he boasts about NOT having empathy, at least for young people.  That may be the only thing he’s ever said that I believe.

That’s one of the symptoms. Of course, none of Biden’s handlers have any empathy, either. They’re all sociopaths bent on increasing their own wealth and power, which is why they can’t come up with a good strategy to beat Trump. They have nothing more to offer voters than Trump does; maybe less.

Each side will find justification for their actions, and each side will find reasons to blame the other for every incident of violence.  The most important thing to each side is to take the other’s scalp, truth be damned.

The shooting in Portland could be entirely unrelated to the protest,  or it could be an overzealous self-described Antifa warrior succumbing to aggression and hate.  The guy brought a firearm to a political protest, and used it.  He should face consequences for that.

Regardless, the Right will view this as proof that the BLM movement is violent and dangerous.  The Left will view this as being provoked by the Patriot Prayer activists.  Whatever truth comes to light, I’m pretty sure both sides will ignore it.  Russiagate has certainly proven that the Left will embrace utter falsehood if it suits their agenda.  We already know that the Right does as well.

      but the shadow of his pain was in his heart;
and he lived to wield his sword with left hand
more deadly than his right had been.

Don’t bother to get the facts – just act.

@jbnw  “…we choose truth over facts!!”
