I Can’t Believe I Have to Vote for Joe Biden

      By Jessica Valenti, Medium

      18 April 20

Democratic women are once again being asked to help save the country by voting for a deeply problematic man

n election night in 2016, my six-year-old daughter and I wore matching “feminist” T-shirts, ordered a pizza, and sat glued in front of the television with my mother. Assuming three generations of women were about to watch the first female president be elected, I bought a bottle of champagne. (It’s still sitting in a dusty corner of my bar.)

This November, there won’t be buzzy excitement or matching T-shirts with my daughter. On election day, my choice will be between Donald Trump, a dangerous bigot who has been credibly accused of rape, sexual assault, and harassment by more than two dozen women over a more than four-decade period, and Joe Biden, a man recently accused of sexually assaulting a Senate aide in the 1990s, and who has made fun of the women who complained about his penchant for unwanted shoulder rubs.

Playing victim in a national election might appeal to some people, but not me.  If you vote for Biden, you own Biden and what he does.

You are at least 18 years old, if you are old enough to vote.  So, be the grown up you are.  Own your adult choices.

He told voters, “if I believed [the sexual harassment allegations against me], even I wouldn’t vote for me.”  Yet, STILL, you claim you can’t NOT vote for Biden.

If you vote for Biden, your vote will be 100% on you.

Their mind is so closed that no thought about alternatives can enter their skull. No amount of us trying to explain that will enter, either. They are a lost cause.

Who are you? | What do you want? | Why are you here? | Where are you going? | Do you have anything worth living for? | Who do you serve and who do you trust?

was merely interested in the “woman president” thing – champagne???? – is bothered by Joe Biden.   Not buying that one bit.

This is just another version of Vote for the Blue No Matter Who, aimed at women who don’t vote on issues.  IMO, etc.

And yes, she has another choice.  Vote third party.  Doubties voting for Biden bothers her one little bit.  Golly – no tshirts.  What about Biden on the fucking ISSUES?????

shoving the worst candidates they can possibly find down our throats. Because people continue falling for their bullshit “vote blue no matter who” because of “dangerous” opposition. Platforms/issues don’t even come into play for the corrupt parties. It’s all identity politics now.

They will continue this crap until people stop falling for it. Your vote is yours (supposed to be, but for evoting machines ) . You don’t “have to” vote for anyone you don’t want to vote for. In fact, that’s the worst thing you could do. They will NEVER stop stealing elections as long as you continue to allow them to by continuing to vote for their DNC hand picked candidates and as long as hackable evoting machines are used in U. S. elections.

I just love how the evoting issue is completely ignored by every single corrupt corporate owned MSM propaganda network AND every single alternative progressive channel. It’s THE main reason we had (2004) GW Bush, the warmongering felon, Clinton and now Dementia-ridden Biden. Unless every single evoting machine in this country is destroyed, I refuse to vote ever again. I’m finished playing their sick game. Fuck them.

My reply was “I won’t vote for a crooked woman any more than I would vote for a crooked man. And I voted for a woman for President, I just didn’t vote for the corrupt, wholly owned subsidiary of Goldman-Sachs one.”

Bernie was ‘evil’ in that I did not agree with him on everything. I still voted for him in the primary and would have done so in the GE.

The question each voter has to answer for him- or herself is ‘how evil is too evil for my vote’. That is an individual’s decision which I prefer not to judge.

We all make difficult decisions among imperfect choices all the time. Sometimes I choose the principled ‘it’s the right thing to do and damn the consequences’ choice. Sometimes I don’t. I do try to avoid making a selfish ‘that choice is good for me and damn the consequences it has on others’ option. I try anyway. 🙂

They are called 'human' rights not "if politicians do not feel threatened" rights. Many politicians see national sovereignty/security as more important because they protect their power and wealth. Human rights often do just the opposite.

National issues (slavery/racism, income inequality, pandemics and pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war, pandemics) are not resolved with more national sovereignty.

“I do try to avoid making a selfish ‘that choice is good for me and damn the consequences it has on others’ option.”

That is how I look at those who vote for the blue no matter who, or vote based on gender or race.  Makes them feel good, but never mind about those who will die in wars or do without health care because the Blue is owned by corporations.  Or find that their Social Security was put on the table by the candidate who has repeatedly said it is fair game for “balancing the budget”, which is not really a problem for Congress when it comes to war and bail-outs.  I could never vote for someone who considers Larry Summers and Jamie Dimon as suitable for his cabinet/advisors.  THAT is choosing evil.  So I am good with my choice to not vote for Red or Blue.  And, IMO, to continue to vote for the neocon neoliberal fascist Blues will just perpetuate the harm inflicted on others.  So I feel great about not doing that.  I will vote for Progressives downstream, but will not vote for a corporate shill to head things up.

And Bernie being “evil” because one does not agree with him on everything is not in the same universe as the evil of our two “choices” that we are instructed to choose between.   I am assuming Biden or Trump will be president, and either one of them will inflict evil upon the rest of us – but I believe Biden is much more smooth and practiced, his record shows that, and Biden will have the blissful assistance of Pelosi and the other Vichy Dems.  So – Green it is.  I will not vote for a Vichy Dem ever again.  This time, neither Red nor Blue are good for me, or good for anyone except Wall Street and the MIC.

First, it’s loaded with ID politics bullshit. If only a woman could get elected; what nonsense. Joe Biden is better than Trump by a mile; more nonsense, IMO. The author virtue-signals that she will do what’s good for the country, sacrificing her own principles out of the goodness of her little bourgeois heart, for the sake of others.

How virtuous! Oh, she’s just so morally superior to those of us who will not vote for someone with whom we fundamentally disagree on damned near everything. Come to think of it, that’s the whole Vote Blue No Matter Who argument–If you don’t vote for who we tell you to vote, you are a bad person.

It’s sickening. And liberals wonder why they are so despised by populist right and left. They are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

It is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it.--Eugene Debs

Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I'll show you a crook.--Harry Truman

because he won’t be able to hold it together long enough to get inaugurated.  What she’s voting for, what his Veep search committee is looking for, is the solution to America’s problems — Colored Woman:

Or if that sounds too 1950s for you, make it Woman of Color™  (but that kind of messes up the lyrics).   Don’t diss identity politics OB, it’s the only thing the DNC has left, err, middle of the road.

Depending on the election, 40 to 60% of voters do not vote. The GOP is responsible for a lot of that. They do everything, that Dems allow them, to stop people from voting. And th9se not voting have absolutely no control over their democracy. No one is attempting to get these people out to vote, Not Dems Not GOPers, not our governments state or federal. Not voting is giving up on democracy. It is exactly what the filthy rich want you to do.

So,  you have to vote no matter what. If you hate both Trump and Biden, almost identical candidates, then write in your friend’s name or vote Green.

But you have to vote no matter what. Otherwise you freely turnover your small bit of power to the filthy rich.

on the ballot and saw the final tally without it, the proof is in the pudding. Perhaps we should all vote for a living US citizen so the bastards cannot “censor”our votes.

Fun fact. George Washington was NOT born in the United States!

“Not voting gives you no power.”

What power does it give us?

I have voted in every election for the last 47 years. Not one thing has changed because I did that.

We have zero power to do Jack shit.

TPTB purge voter rolls because THEY control them.

TPTB shred provisional ballots because THEY have the access to them.

TPTB close polling places because THEY control the process.

TPTB hack the evoting machines to steal/flip votes for THEIR chosen candidate because THEY control the machines.

WE THE PEOPLE have absolutely zero power because of all of the above.

Voters are nothing but a bunch of puppets being controlled by TPTB puppeteers… and you can be damn sure TPTB are sitting in their smoke-filled back rooms laughing their asses off at the naive citizens who actually believe they’re exercising their right to vote when every fucking bit of it is nothing but a dog and pony show created by THEM.

VOTING IS AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY and makes TPTB believe we’re a bunch of ignorant schmucks.

You really have to have your head so inside the dem’s ass to believe that Joe is the lesser of two evils.  You can be sure that Joe and his team will kill a lot more brown and black people around the world in one year than Trump will do in four.

Just what we need,a representative of Washington and Hollywood, the two worst status quo places on earth,to tell us how to vote.

I voted for Herself last time. I didn’t want to, and it did no good, so I learned my lesson once an for all time. I do dislike Trump, perhaps as much as the author of this rather illogical op ed. But it’s the same false dichotomy they use on us every time, and I’m just not buying it anymore. And the Jamaal Bowman win in New York illustrates what can happen when we resist the old sales pitch from the status quo.

The Rebub… Nazis strategy is to suppress the vote so that only well to do whites and pissed off whites can vote. This will work. The Demo… fascists will suppress the vote so that only well to do whites can vote. This will work – for the Republicans. But where the Demofascists aren’t looking progressives will start winning more and more. Pelosi and Schumer will try to stop the flow, but their treasonous sabotages will be exposed and renounced until progressives either destroy the Democratic party or purge it. 2022 will either be the end or the end. Either the end of the quislings or the end of the world.

There’s nothing of value to be found in any of it, just an endless cycle of sophistry and bizarre contradictions. In other words, she’s a natural fit for the establishment’s army of useful idiots.

Though I was wrong about her background,I was right about her ceaseless water carrying forvthe rich and for her privileged-class self-indulgence.That she’s an arriviste instead of an old established figure as I previously thought ,makes her defense of the status quo even stronger. The system gave her goodies she had not thought possible.

So your analogy is correct,@gamemeat—she’s basically an over fed kitty cat licking her rump on a velvet cushion.

I understand that if I were a binary voter, I have the choice between two:

      • Racists
      • Old White Men most likely suffering some sort of mental impingement(both to a worrying extent)
      • Credibly accused sexual assaulters (Hell, Trump might actually come ahead since he pays for silence, while the other uses the vast Establishment to silence accusers)
      • Enablers of the militarization of the Police(where chances are Biden’s VP might be a cop)
      • Who slap down victims of situations
      • War criminals

There are so many similarities, that I am so glad I Don’t Have to Vote for Either of those two.

Either way, I still worry more about jobs, education, medical care and infrastructure, all of which the Establishment are now trying to sweep under the rug in lieu of them trying to pin this whole police controversy on race only.  It’s not just about Race.  It is about Class and System, but they’re again using groups to separate people.

the Wikileaks emails show the collaboration with the Clinton campaign

she also famously wrote an article denouncing catcalling/street harassment, and then a year or two later complained she wasn’t getting catcalled as often as when she was younger

When people told me they hated Hillary Clinton or (far worse) that they were “not fans,” I wish I had said in no uncertain terms: “I love Hillary Clinton. I am in awe of her. I am set free by her. She will be the finest world leader our galaxy has ever seen.”

And I’m not alone in my commitment. Millions of Clinton’s supporters — we were thanked by Clinton as the “secret, private Facebook sites” — expressed it among themselves, all the time, in raptures or happy tears with each new display of our heroine’s ferocious intelligence, depth, and courage. We were frankly bewildered by the idea that anyone would hedge their commitment to her (“You don’t have to be her friend”; “Yes, she’s made mistakes”; “lesser of two evils”). We didn’t remember anyone turning to this stock ambivalence when discussing Obama, Babe Ruth, FDR. If only one reporter — they knew about us — could have published a headline like “Clinton Inspires Historic Levels of Adoration From Her Supporters” about the people who have had their lives transformed by the power of her brilliant campaign, unrivaled effectiveness, and extraordinary career. Just one headline like that, like the ones Bill Clinton got.

I want to reverse the usual schedule of things, then. We don’t have to wait until she dies to act. Hillary Clinton’s name belongs on ships, and airports, and tattoos. She deserves straight-up hagiographies and a sold-out Broadway show called RODHAM. Yes, this cultural canonization is going to come after the chronic, constant, nonstop “On the other hand” sexist hedging around her legacy. But such is the courage of Hillary Clinton and her supporters; we reverse patriarchal orders. Maybe she is more than a president. Maybe she is an idea, a world-historical heroine, light itself. The presidency is too small for her. She belongs to a much more elite class of Americans, the more-than-presidents. Neil Armstrong, Martin Luther King Jr., Alexander Fucking Hamilton.

Hillary Clinton did everything right in this campaign, and she won more votes than her opponent did. She won. She cannot be faulted, criticized, or analyzed for even one more second. Instead, she will be decorated as an epochal heroine far too extraordinary to be contained by the mere White House. Let that revolting president-elect be Millard Fillmore or Herbert Hoover or whatever. Hillary is Athena.

I believe I can mention her name since she is banned at SV. The reason why is she often got her facts wrong especially when she criticized video games.
