    1. I thought that was a cartoon at first

    WOW!

Tried to insert the gif but I can’t make it work.

    @deadpool can this work?

    4. I tried it once

Small hill, small jump, went maybe 100 feet while in the air. Too much for me. I wanted my skis on the snow more than that.

      5. I jumped as a kid, biggest hill a 40-meter. I jumped 136 feet in competition ..

… at Mt. Simon in Eau Claire Wisconsin in 1963.

I still attend competitions in the upper midwest, but only as a spectator.  You can see world-class jumping in Westby, Wisconsin every February and there’s other, good competitions held annually.

      Westby

      Iola

      Madison

      Fox River Grove, Il

      There’s more too.

        6. I think I tried Hendrickson Hill or Henderson Hill ,not sure

It would have been about the same time you were jumping.  A classmate of mine was from a family of rabid ski jumpers, and he competed at the large hill above the university. I went with him to a practice on a much smaller hill, which I seem to remember was sort of in a residential area of Eau Claire.  It was sort of nestled in among the trees.  I wouldn’t even start all the way up.  I just wanted to say I did it.

      11. And we saw that over and over and over and over and over and…

almost just like an animated gif, only back then as part of the opening to ABC’s Wide World of Sports:

And here’s a little something about the skier:

"You! Cake or death?" "Uh, cake for me, too, please." "Very well! Give him cake, too! We're gonna run out of cake at this rate. You! Cake or death?" "Uh, death, please. No, cake! Cake! Cake, sorry. Sorry..." "You said death first, uh-uh, death first!" "Well, I meant cake!" "Oh, all right. You're lucky I'm Church of England!" Eddie Izzard, Dress To Kill

        12. Yeah, ABC's Wide World of Sports

I remember the opening, which was my mom’s cue to kick me out of the house on a sunny day (“You’ve already spent the whole morning watching cartoons! You need to go play outside!”)
