I know this isn’t unique to Bernie, but I find it really irritating to be constantly asked to donate to his campaign after I have just done so. I sometimes get 2 or 3 begging requests a day from his campaign. Sorry, but I don’t have unlimited resources- If I did I would have dome the limit early on. I just can’t imagine the constant pleading does any good. It’s insulting.

I donate once a month and I still get all those letters and dozens of others from other candidates. Just remember that they send these out in bulk mail and really trying to convince those who have not donated yet. My daughter donates when he and his campaign ask for small donations. I do it the opposite. I know how much I can afford and give it to him on the first of the month.

This is the price we pay for all those individual (non-corporate) donations we ask him to settle for.

yep.  & it wastes paper if you use the mail.  i think they should do it once a quarter or 1x/month or something.

if they’re emailing you 2-3 times/d, something’s wrong with their solicitation system.  you should email them back saying so, because that doesn’t speak well of how they’ll run the country.

I find it very very irritating, but I think it’s because I can’t give as much as I wish I could.  I do try to keep in mind that it’s geared toward getting as much as possible and that all donations are appreciated.

In the fine print at the bottom of the emails, they do have a link to receive fewer emails.  I think I’ll try this.

I’m going to look at that fine print.  Thanks!

I get 2 a day from Bernie and Biden. Sometimes 3. Usually I get one each day from Tulsi. I don’t mind because they usually include a story updating me on what’s going on in their campaigns. I read the stories, then delete it. When I’m ready to donate, the website is at my fingertips. It’s convenient. I’ve donated to Bernie and Tulsi, but not Joe B. He attends enough of those Big Fundraisers. He doesn’t need my small donations other than to bring down his “average donation”.

Repetition sells.  I send what I can when I can.  To me, the most onerous is the fund-raiser disguised as a poll.

Almost all the polls are really fund raisers.  It’s disheartening.  I think,  “you really want my opinion”?   No, they want my money.

I fall for it still and check off my responses… then, the inevitable Visa Mastercard or PayPal form and I log oug. Fuck them.

Yes.  I’m getting worn down and it isn’t even primary season yet.  The guilt tripping!  “Your name isn’t on the (fill in the blank) list yet”.  FFS, Bernie!

@liberalelite Obviously, the guilt trip is working on you. Good thing I’m a callous barbarian and am unaffected. I send him $20.20 a month automatically, and that’s really all I can do.

Bernie’s emails don’t bother me nearly as much as Facebook popping up with an ad for something I just thought of but didn’t search for. That’s what weirds me out.

Yeah I’m a sensitive soul… also very devoted to Bernie.  Since I’m, not in Vermont I wished for years that I could vote for him. Like in ’16, now I can WOOHOO. However like many of his devotees, I’m not rich but barely middle class.  One clever trick they’re trying this time around is a minimum of $2.70.  That way they can get a high number of individual donations albeit not much $$$.  He seems to be doing just fine money-wise for a Socialist.

My, aren’t we delicate? Sorry, it’s an email regimen. All candidates and all advertisers do it. Welcome to the 21st Century. You can unsubscribe from the campaign’s email list if it bothers you that much. I just periodically delete damned near everything, figuring if it’s really important, they’ll snail mail me something.

Anyway, I send in $20.20 a month recurring. If I can send in more, which isn’t likely, I will. That reminds me–I’d like to send AOC a little something.

Yeah I do delete some of them, particularly the ones that come begging from out of state.  Who sold my email address?  Sorry, I’m not that into you, or even in your state, Candidate Whoever.

As long as they’re begging the campaign is alive and we’re fighting!  I was getting irritated and annoyed, but then started thinking about the alternative. Bernie is dependent on “people power” a lot of people who have to struggle and scrape for a few dollars here and there.  For all the politicians invoking the god damned  “middle class”, most of Bernie’s supporters probably aren’t even that, “whatever the hell that is any more.”  It’s gonna take a lot of begging and nagging to fuel this movement, there is no profit for big donors from Bernie’s policies. So it seems the campaign is doing the best it can with their fundraising landscape to remind ourselves to give when we can, in the hope others will give when we can’t.

The “begging” means we are alive and kicking and fighting and I welcome that. Now I appreciate it. I try to not be annoyed because maybe someone else with a few extra dollars will get prodded to give. The campaign is alive and well and we all want that.

It’s still not as annoying as the “Doom and Gloom” campaign that I get from other Democrats though, especially during DWS’s time.

Even though those things annoy me, one thing to recommend Bernie’s and Tulsi’s fundraising, is that they talk about “Doing things” rather than complaining about the other side.  That makes me more amenable to their message, as it’s not just them saying “we’re better than these folks” and scaring me about what someone else is doing, rather than what THEY will be doing for me.
