    I need some advice….

I am retired so I am frugal with my money. I gladly gave to the Sanders campaign and other Sanders type progressive candidates.

Once you donate money no matter how small the sum, your mail box becomes flooded with urgent requests and tons of scary letters. They are like flies to an outhouse.

I want to support Sander’s style progressive and progressive agendas, but I want to spend wisely. I may be restricted to ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and independent news. I really want to send my small amount of money to aid progressive politics. What organizations can I donate my money and time to help make a real change.

I feel if I have these questions and I am sure other might be having the same thoughts.

    Let’s talk…..

    1. AnneD, I am in much the same situation you are.

When Ron Wyden requested a donation yesterday I promptly unsubscribed. I had already unsubscribed because of Ron’s support of the TPP. I guess when we unsubscribe it expires after a time, lol.

It would be nice if it was always as clear cut as Wyden. I don’t want to donate to a complete weasel by mistake.

      2. Only make one-time donations

since any entity can be captured, corrupted, underfunded and hacked over time  . And don’t disseminate any information you don’t figure you have to (even the pesky *required asterisks you can make bogus) and make sure when you are paying that it is done via a trusted source and encrypted well (128 or 256 bit encryption) check the button next to the url address for information about that when on the pay site prior.

I have personally really liked the work the ‘League of Women Voters’ have done in the past puting out all the necessary information about a candidates leanings. But can’t say if they are or will stay as pristine in the future. Call it the ‘Red-Cross’ syndrome we are all afflicted with now.

        4. Many were one time…

I am about to unsubscribe to all but would consider giving some bucks to progressives as needed.

          5. Oop! I meant to respond to your thread.

          I edited some above.

I used to donate to individuals, but feel the time has become more of a fleecing and see it all more a ruse these days. When I can – I tend to donate more to societal movements or animal/environmental protection than to individuals since anything there helps stand up against the ginormous hurdles put forth against them.

          8. Thank You for your Valuable Input!

          especially about Wyden – What a Let-Down

I almost feel bad for bringing forth *suggestions* but it would seem that now is a time to help movements more than people or just simply look more locally *if one has the resources to do so*

      3. I dumped him too over the TPP. As for who to support now, JPR is on the top of

my list followed by Wikileaks. I have unsubscribed from every site that pushed $hillary.

        7. I unsubscribed from the sites that pushed Hillary too.

Early on I even unsubscribed from politicians that endorsed her like Sherrod Brown and Al Franken.

    11. Thanks….

For all the ideas. I will donate to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence’s name, the Democracy Now in Mike Bannon’s name and will donate to the ACLU in the name of his NSA appointment.

Gee I feel better already. When they start having the Muslim registry I will sign up for that too. This looks like it will be fun.

    13. Blind EMail

My recommendation is to make a new email address, one you will never read because org after org sells your names to other lists and you get bombarded.  You unsubscribe, which sometimes lets you tell them exactly why you want no part of them (which can be entertaining), but ultimately your in box becomes unusable.
