The Hillbot brigade from 2016 always shows up to trash and mock.

If Bernie wins, I will entertain myself watching the grieving Hillbots as they writhe in agony on the virtual ground.

I trashed GDP but only show up if I take the bait on the home page. Mostly smaller forums and GD.

Implode will be an understatement. I suspect the site will no longer exist. (One can only hope)

P.S. And so will Nurse Jackie’s vile, ignorant comments.

The whole idea is to bring back the democrats and the policies from 50 years ago, when we actually took care of the people. The idiots at SV will never get that.

Ah yes, Nurse Jackie, whose most cognizant reply to any failure to properly worship Hill & Nancy is “LOL” with some stupid mic-drop gif. That alert-stalker who apparently admires a drug-addicted adulteress is much of the reason I’m here.

Nurse Jackie showed up at SV during the 2016 primary.  Her goal was to ban as many Bernie supporters she could.  She had a lot of help, but that was all she did was troll and alert.  She is one vile POS who probably works with the Russians (tongue in cheek) to divide the democratic party!

I was not a poster on that site as some of this site’s posters were; so, this means I don’t have the experience as some others do.

I reached the conclusion, some time ago, that 2016 was both a stunning and a terrific year with respect to revealing people in U.S. politics. Stunning, with respect to the general election of Trump having defeated Hillary; revealing, with respect to people—people who call themselves such things as Democrats, liberals, and/or progressives—who chose to vote the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination to Hillary instead of Bernie, yes, but were (and some still are) on their knees at Hillary while at the throat of Bernie (and Bernie’s primaries voters).

Hill-ar-y-ous delusions that it was plenty sane to charge Bernie (and Bernie voters) as guilty of each of the offenses on the list of boxes they claimed they themselves could check off on with identity politics.

Hill-ar-y-ous delusions that they think people would be so scared they would also be too scared—after Hillary and her campaign pushed for the “Pied Piper candidates”—of a president Trump.

Hill-ar-y-ous delusions that people who voted the nomination to Bernie could not possibly have been voting on the merits of Bernie’s vision, agenda, policies, and politics—and they wanted his leadership.

Hill-ar-y-ous delusion of thinking their gaslighting, their posturing, their lecturing, and their bullying would get enough people to fall in line.

Hill-ar-y-ous, after her general-election loss, that Russia is why Hillary lost to Trump, and that their McCarthyism should be embraced by actual progressives because, first and foremost, “Vote Blue No Matter Who,” meaning, Surrender Your Mind!, which is another way of saying Fall in Line.

SV, as this site’s members address them, became exposed.

(SV, of course, was not alone.)

SV is now like fifteen people who like to pretend they are serious political operatives with the ears of the party leadership. Hell, some of them think they ARE the party leadership.

They are also a perfect example of “let’s do more of what isn’t working”.

The hilbots have absolutely no sense of self-awareness whatsoever.  The same hilbots who swoon over the Kamala Harris “That little girl was me” tshirt think it wrong that Bernie has a tshirt of himself getting arrested and dragged away at a demonstration.  I can only assume the hilbots are just  kinda stupid.  They sure are an accurate reflection of Hillary.   Ignore the facts, make things up, illogical, full of vengeful hate – and assume everyone else cannot see through them.  SV is pretty much mostly Freepers now.  Or an over-long bad SNL skit.  Or has been taken over by The Onion.  I do admire those who post positive stuff about Bernie.

I used to regularly read the posts on that site but when this one opened,I migrated.I lurked here from day one but didn’t join until recently.I was looking for another political discussion home because my original one (name doesn’t really matter) was also revealing itself to be full of closet conservatives. In my view, 2016 and the years since then are really separating the wheat from the chaff. We now know which side so many are on.

It was my first real political forum.  I joined during the early years of GWB.  Used to be, there were a lot of good people and good conversations – unfortunately, there was also a fair number of people who were genuinely “unpleasant”.  I learned a lot there.

Manny used to make me laugh all the time, especially after he invented third way manny.  Plus, a few of the posters here would write stuff that just blew my mind.  It helped me understand who I wanted to be- and what I really believe in.

I’m in it for the betterment of humanity, for the common good.  I’m not in it to engage in the gender war, bashing Christians in general, calling people commie lovers or voting blue no matter who.  Used to be a lot like me over there.

I would read Will Pitt’s essays and be in awe of how good they were.  Before SV, I had a vague idea that things were wrong with society and its leadership, SV helped me understand what it was.

Some good people over there still, but, unfortunately, overall, SV has become just another part of the corruption.  Too bad, I liked Skinner at one point – the hatemail bag cracked me up.

Much has changed… it’s like many of them became precisely what they despised about freepers, ignorant people marching in lockstep.  Too blind to realize that the party they support long since betrayed anything resembling principle.

It frustrates me that I will have to re-register as a dem to vote for Bernie – but this is it for me.  They screw him over again and I’m done.  Going green, or maybe socialist.

Enough is enough.  I will only support those who support the people.  I will only vote for those who represent the best interests of humanity and the common good.  Right now, that is Bernie.  Period.

I haven’t been there for almost two years now. Or maybe longer. I followed a link to this site, started reading back when there wasn’t much at all, and pretty much stopped looking at SV. I’d follow a link or something, but it was so awful that I couldn’t stand it.

I’d found SV back in late January/early February of 2001, and was a devotee. Once Obama won, I could see it was changing more and more, until finally if you weren’t all in for Hillary, you were dead.

Meh. I’m still bernin’! Suck it, Hillbots.

Almost the same story here, I stopped going there the day the Queen was coronated, and haven’t been back since.

By the time I left, center right trolls, many of them obviously paid to troll, had taken over the site, and anti-progressive corporatists had taken control of the jury system.  The energy, aura, vibe, whatever, of the place had become so moderate right wing and dark that it had become unbearable for me.

SV, or Site Voldemort, is a very apt label for the site, and I won’t visit it because I can’t.  The false, icky energy there had become as intolerable to me as a hard core RW site would be.

I also started there in 2002. It was a breath of fresh air for me during a very difficult political time. Its evolution into a centrist-only site was very painful for a lot of people. The anti-Bernie machine was the most disturbing part for me. It reached the point where support of Bernie was labeled as misogyny and white supremacy.

I always liked to use SV as an informal news aggregator, which is why I still torture myself.

I’m so glad I left that place. It became a cesspool, for all the reasons started above.

That being said, I’m glad 2016 happened in one small way: I became more aware of who I could trust and who I couldn’t.

I went down swinging. When I knew it was time to move on, I wrote my true feelings about the Clinton empire. I knew they would never let me back after that. Worked exactly as intended.

Their political commentary is so very predictable. The single biggest lie is that they think they are progressive. They are not. Their economic ideology is straight out of the Republican playbook.

The second biggest lie is that they portray the base of the party as “black” and more important, that it has always been that way.  The truth is that the base was once a strong coalition of organized labor and civil rights activists. When labor was abandoned by party leaders to pursue new funding avenues created by “Citizens United”, the “base” was basically destined to become halved, and is now a mere fragment of what it once was. The truth is that the “base” is shrinking and has been doing so for more than a couple of decades now. So it may be true that currently, the Democratic Party “base” may be described as largely “black”, it is primarily due to attrition as a result of the party’s abandonment of the working class. This has been exasperated by relentless partisan “white male” blaming that would have been unthinkable prior to the Democratic Party’s fore mentioned abandonment. Since then, the partisans have largely adopted a world view that may never allow the once powerful coalition to ever be a formidable political force again.. Trump plays upon this aspect frighteningly well.

It would maybe surprise people here that there are a lot of members there who I miss, but most of them are gone now – inactive, banned, or worse.  The ones who remain are not people with whom I would EVER be friends (with a few exceptions).  So I do not miss the board now.  I do go back every now and then for a good chuckle, but I’m losing interest even in that.  What is the point.  JPR is getting more active now it seems, with much of the same zeitgeist as the old SV did, and I like it.  Which reminds me that I need to make another contribution.

it’s surreal, I checked in 2017 and all their old forum mods were on time-out: what sort of website is that?! of course we know it’s just the endgame of a party that turned on its own voters circa 1991 yada yada

that’s the lesson of Jacob and Esau, that Esau wasn’t portrayed as swindled but as valuing his literal inheritance–everything he had and would have other than his crook–less than a pot of beans (and also some metaphors of farmers vs. herders a la Enkidu being defeated with hookers and beer)

SV’s leadership had to face a situation where 85% of its membership was refusing orders: even unleashing the flying monkeys of the 10% didn’t change anything

Back in the earliest days there were great debates about everything on there. Fact-based arguments with all logical fallacies immediately called out.  I found the site after seeing a RW site attack it for being pro-Michael Moore.  Poster could attack sources or the interpretation of facts but never another poster (ad hom). It was a good place to tighten your argument or get free fact checking from those who disagreed with you.

Now the site is dominated by just the opposite — a kind of cheerleader dynamic where group-think is the preferred mode and posters are expected to self-censor if they have facts or feelings that challenge the group. It is a microcosm of the larger political landscape where people have forgotten how to persuade or debate because name-calling and other ad hominems are championed as “debate ending.”

I loved one of the profiles there in 2010 or so which said something like ‘if you have come here looking for personal info with which to attack my character and distract from you losing our debate you will find none so why don’t come back to whichever thread you and I arguing in and arguing on the fucking facts instead?’  Really summed up the new “debate” style there.

I think it was the rise of forums that killed it: I was banned from Jonestown for denying that Obama was the most anti-Wall Street Prez in history (seriously?)–I’d violated the rules, and it didn’t matter if it was merely true, one of the commandants told me

the forums also provided the identity-flogging flying monkeys that they used as their “enforcers” 2016: Lord Acton was wrong, nobody goes quite so mad with power as someone gleefully driving off someone whose goals they actually agree with from a midsize political forum, and thinking they won the argument in meatspace

that’s where the cliche mid-10s “liberal debating style” came from: “just like what a FUCKING WHITE MALE would say!!!!” “I’m an African American lesbian woman” “BUT YOU’RE NOT TRANS!!!!!” and so on

a large part of it was simply that you couldn’t protest Obama because that had … implications: people were talking about Bo rather than thinking up chants to condemn Libya or make Michelle cry, quibbling the “progressive stack” rather than facing down Susan Rice with blood-spattered hands

SV or FR? Pretty much the same thing in different paint.

You tell me: which one supports democratic socialism? Which one supports true Progressive values like free education or medicare for all? Which one supports corporatism? Which one is against the non-stop wars in the Middle East? Which one is quick to blame Russia for hacking into our elections?(Ok so the freepers might not have been fooled by that last one…which has me giggling about SV’s IQ points).

Site Voldemort or the Free Republic? IMHO, it is hard to tell the difference when you get down to it.  It would not surprise me if they both join forces to prevent Senator Sanders from getting the nomination.

Have the Bernie supporters accepted the pledge to vote for the blue no matter who?  I left of my own volition; between the nasties and the loooooong-winded tedious  Canadian and the hilariously pretentious “rich” name-dropper – “Oh, I was having lunch with Barack Obama and the Pope  and Elon Musk yesterday, and they assured me….”  the place is really kind of silly now.  And of course an internet pledge means squat unless you are going to mail your ballot to the DNC to fill out for you.
