“Trump this, Kushner that, McConnell’s fault”.    Wasn’t it Pelosi’s Grand Bargain. She did it in a New York Minute. Nothing in it about managing where the money goes. You would have thought the money was for the Pentagon.

She could have held Wall Street hostage if she really wanted a paycheck protection program, but she didn’t. That’s on her and all the Democrats who voted for that outrage, not the Republicans–they’d have approved such a program no problem if she’d done that because their donors would have told them to.

Some call that speculation. OK, but it shouldn’t be speculation. We should know, one way or the other. But the worthless Democrats surrendered without a fight, the cravenly poltroons.

If something goes wrong, blame the other side. Even if it’s your fault. Especially if it’s your fault.

Makes my lip curl of its own volition. They actually like each other. There’s little ideological difference between the two.

She gets nothing done, but limousine liberals would secretly prefer that to seeing their taxes hiked.  So nothing getting done for struggling Americans suits all of them just fine.

For example, take Obamacare.  During the run up to discussions about health care reform in 2009, she held a press conference towards the end of negotiations in which she stated (quoting from memory because Google conveniently scrubbed the video footage from Youtube): “I am for the strongest possible public option.”  So she’s out there saying, whatever is the most progressive, I support THAT!  And what actually happened?  No public option (meaning the rich didn’t have to see their taxes hike in order to fund a more fair health care system), and insurance companies became even MORE entrenched in the American economy.  And we see her out there in the years which have passed turning more to the right, “I thank you for your question, but we are a capitalist … heeheehee … we are a capitalist nation…”

She manages to fool many voters, though, including those who suffer the most.

were administered as well as the rest of the funding from the CARES Act. On April 7, 2020, four days after PPP loans began to be made, President Donald Trump removed Fine as head of the committee.

By June, 4.5 million businesses had received over $500 billion of taxpayer money, but the exact identities of the recipients were unknown, as Steve Mnuchin said that this was “proprietary” and “confidential.” Additionally, although the Government Accountability Office had requested information about the loans for oversight purposes, the Small Business Administration was withholding the information.

Some PPP loans were received by businesses owned or run by members of Congress or their spouses. On June 16, <i>Politico</i> reported that this included Reps. Susie Lee (DNV), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (DFL), Roger Williams (RTX), and Vicky Hartzler (RMO). Three weeks prior, Dean Phillips (DMN) had introduced legislation to require public release of the name of many of the recipients of PPP loans, but enough Republicans voted against it that the bill did not pass. Lee and Muarsel-Powell had voted in favor of public disclosures while Williams and Hartzler had voted against public disclosures.

National issues (slavery/racism, income inequality, pandemics and pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war, pandemics) are not solved with more nationalism.

@peacecorps They’re so cocky about it they’re brazen now. The corruption has become casual.
