This is a most interesting discussion – once when I tried to check on the thread, this was blocked (nfi)…..The station sponsoring the program is called international progressives – seems to be a new station that I intend to follow…..Knowing that the problems facing us are greater than the US’ solutions and are exposed, studied, and explained by different sets of lenses gives me hope that there will also be solutions.

Richard Wolff seemed subdued in his presentation towards Yanis Varoufakis. It was a pleasant conversation and very informative.

with your observations about getting opinions from different parts of the world….In this case it was the (for better words) the NATO splinters.  The US has been the hegemon for so long that right or wrong, there is an assumption that all problem fixes must come from Washington.  Similarly on communism / Marxism….it has been taboo in the US since inception to the extent the scholarship is limited to non existent.    Ergo, those who find those arguments compelling go to a very few sources (i.e., Wolff, et. al.)  Not that Wolff doesn’t do the US and the world a service, but that there are more interpretations and solutions and variations than just his and his few colleagues….Seemingly,  the global south has much to contribute to this discussion for a variety of reasons – starting with colonialism.  There has been scholarship from the global south and different voices in the West/East…..The more diverse the voices the richer the opportunities.

Mutually exclusive from your point, I’m so glad to hear that at least one viewer persevered and watched this program……I tried at one point to link to it after posting and there was a disconnect in the link….Thank you for the feedback.

Yes, this was interesting, but also somewhat depressing. I had

some hope that Europe may want to free itself more from

the US, but obviously the dollar is still too strong. I disagree

with Yanis on the war possibility with China. I think that

China has the patience to wait until it will win, especially

with Russia backing it up. The question is whether the US

population will go along with or against its own government.

Thank you for bringing us this conversation.

was a wonderful way to spend an hour. Although to fully digest their words, it will take more viewings. Somehow I became a member of The Democracy in Europe Movement (DIEM0) and it has been interesting reading their newsletters.

      Thanks for the posting.
