India Times: 'H1B visa row in WTO may lead to trade retaliation against US'

Note: This is not really about H1B visas so much as about L1 visas and quotas, which may be in their last days. The changes would become irreversible if they come from the WTO.  When the effects of that are combined with the cross border data flows services liberalisation being planned in a separate deal,  and deindustrialization and automation in manufacturing, say goodbye to high pay in a great many jobs, the mainstays of the middle class economy. Thats the whole idea.

EU style liberalisation was not designed to work in countries without safety nets until it had made them rich (like the US!? – thats a joke.) first.

But that’s what they want to do here.  Make US pay more like the Third World, and business becomes much more profitable for the owners. With workers becoming more like interchangeable parts of a machine, replaceable at will.

What a scam both Clinton and Trump and this last election will be revealed as being. “The money made us do it”?

    1. What in the world is the advantage of the WTO agreement in this area to the

US anyway?  Why don’t we just end our adherence to the WTO?

What do we export in exchange for all that we import?  Our trade deficit suggests we aren’t getting a fair end of the WTO deal?  So why are we in it?

      2. Jobs, poor countries want the remittances.

      We export money, my friend.

“We” (have promised to..) import cheap high skilled labor.

They are framing developed country workers as “too expensive” so they want to replace us with cheap workers from elsewhere, here..

Really, the only thing that would work is to raise the wages of high skill workers everywhere so there would not be big differences. But instead since their business model is based on taking advantage of the point spread they want ours to fall.
