I’ve spent an hour or so just trying to cut and paste from the older site the recommended candidate election page for the House portion in a post in the House election forum, with a lot of funky cut and pastes to still keep getting the formatting I had before or something close to it. When I try to post, it just brings me back to the editing page. The only limit or other messaging it says on the page is that the Topic Title is a maximum length of 160, which it is in my case. Please advise. If there’s a way to increase the size limit, please do so. This will be a big limit for posts like this in the coming year if we want to cover any in depth topics like this.
Also, some recommendations. Would be nice to have an “overstrike” of characters like we had in the older site. I know that the system is capable of doing this, as the overstriked characters are showing up in the page as I had cut and pasted them, and I can cut and paste overstriked segments and retype characters that are overstriked to get what I’d like. Also, would be nice to have things like colored characters and lines like we had with the older site too.
I’m hoping that I don’t get my session logged out soon and lose all of the work I’ve done for a couple of hours.
Thanks.

We do have overstrike. Click on the third from right icon and the menu will open up to disclose it. That also discloses the color choice.
Unfortunately, nothing in the “paragraph” setting works.

Putting in lots of links makes the text disappear. We are working off site to overcome these problems, and are making slow progress.

I’m just going to put in one line from the post. I tried to break it up in to smaller parts and the one I have now seems not that large, so trying to see if it is a formatting problem with the characters I have in it… Testing this line…
Alaska:
At Large district (incumbent – Don Young-R): (Don Young-R reelected)

… or some other hidden formatting problem I have with the larger post.

You’ll see a blue box inside the text box. Click there or just beneath it and paste.
I just posted a real long one for the first time about half an hour ago. I think it’s editor @sffh has been working on. It’s letting long posts through now.

… with all of my intro text coming out fine. I tried to edit both of them to add just a single state of entries (Arizona) which wasn’t many lines, and then each post disappeared. Definitely seems like a size limitation involved, which was just persistent a minute ago or so.

… which looks to have good formatting with links, strike through, and bold text where I want it. I paste it back in to the window, and everything goes back except for the strike through, though I have the textedit window as a reference on where to reapply the strike through if I need to.
If I use the T icon for just copying and pasting text, then I don’t get any strikethrough or links, bold facing, etc. copying over. which would be a lot more work to restore if I did it that way. Let me experiment though to see if cutting and pasting it that way without reapplying any of those links and strike throughs, etc. will post to verify if it is a size issue or not completely.

I think the posting code is expecting to get a carriage return/line feed sequence that gives one in effect a paragraph break and not allow too many of a batch of characters to go through without those breaks. That is why that Alaska line went through and this line goes through too.
Arizona:
2nd district (incumbent – Martha McSally-R): (Ann Kirkpatrick-D elected)
–Mary Matiella-D (https://www.matiellaforcongress.com/) (endorsed by DFA and Justice Democrats)
–Bruce Wheeler-D (http://wheelerforcongress2018.com/)
3rd district (incumbent – Raul Grijalva-D): (Raul Grijalva-D reelected)
– Raul Grijalva-D (http://www.standwithraul.com/) ($) (Our Revolution and Justice Democrats endorsed)I’m going to try another post reply to this post here, where I will put a whole slew of those Alaska lines (with the line breaks between each line, which hopefully will verify my theory here). If I added any lines (without the CRLF break) below the Paul Grijalva (and the rest of the Arizona offices here, then this wouldn’t post).

So, if you try to just copy this Alaska line once more in this post you won’t be able to post it. So somehow adding that single line makes it not post. But it is interesting that adding this extra paragraph instead of that extra line of Alaska DOES post, so I think it is some combination of how those “long lines” are being looked at.

Which cause it to disappear from the forum as well for me. It looks like perhaps there is some residual storage of that post on the site somewhere, from what you are describing here, but not on the forum pages themselves.

THere may be a total word limit but we are unable to find where to set it.
We are working on a lot of issues so this is one of the ones going to the front burner.
