    It's Been a Helluva Run!

Manny and I are stepping down. We’ll no longer be the owners of JackpineRadicals. LandofEnchantment and SoFarFromheaven invested in a portion of the site a little over a year ago. At this time, we’re handing them the entire site. They  are now the new owners.

This has been the most important thing I’ve ever done. We raised close to $28,000 for Bernie in 2016, we made sure the truth was spread, we changed minds and hearts.

We also made sure that people understand there is a choice, there is a way and that we cannot allow the powers that be to continue with their dog and pony show. We let them know that there’s more than one way. That their way is not the only way. Their way is all about, and always about, money in their pockets. That’s no longer acceptable and we had something to do with that.

We may not have always succeeded but we sure tried very hard to keep to the morality of our namesake, JackpineRadical, aka Jim Peterson. Jim was so kind, smart and never attacked people he “spoke” to.  It’s why we’ve succeeded

This is unbelievably sad and difficult for both Manny and me. But we no longer have the time to devote to the site that is needed. And yes, Manny has been around this whole time. Just because he didn’t post didn’t mean he stopped caring or stopped paying attention. He kept this joint running and those hamsters working!

Each and every one of you mean so much to me. Some of you have become close friends, people I love dearly. All of you helped cause change and I have no doubt, will continue to do so.

There are too many wonderful people here to mention each of you separately. Every member has brought something unique to this forum. Every person who fought through the fun, sometimes horror, of being a moderator or admin helped make this the best political site around. I’m grateful to you all

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one of those dear friends who has been an admin here since day one. Area Woman. She stuck with us through thick and thin. Always fair, always thoughtful and just a beautiful person. Thank you!

As far as Manny goes, I cannot possibly say what’s in my heart. We celebrated some fantastic accomplishments, lasted through some tough times and harsh disagreements only to become closer because of it. Manny, you mean the world to me. I love you

It is with a heavy heart but with confidence in your continued work that we step aside. I know you’re in good hands.

All our love, thanks, hope and wish for peace in our time

    Mary

      1. Oh, Mary!

Thank you so much for all you’ve done to start this place and to keep it on track with your vision –and by you, I mean you, Manny and everyone else who worked so hard for this site.

I hope you guys are going to stick around, it wouldn’t be the same without you. Hugs and best wishes for whatever the future holds. Love ya!

      4. Say it ain't so!

You and Manny put a lot (and I mean a LOT) of time and effort into JPR. You got this ship built, out of the shipyard, and floating on the open sea. As always thank you so much.

I’m sure you’ve placed the ownership in good hands. I look forward to your continuing participation here.

I really appreciate all the hard work you both put in – you have truly built something to be proud of.  I’m glad to know you’re passing the reins to LandofEnchantment and SoFarFromheaven.  I don’t know them personally but I’ve admired their posts and I’m confident they will do a great job.  I hope we still see you around even if you aren’t the head honchos anymore.

      9. Thanks, Mary & Manny, for creating a place for us & for your diligence

      in keeping the standards high.

I don’t post much any more due to my lack of faith in politicians, but I do have faith that Land of Enchantment & So Far From Heaven will continue making JPR a welcoming place for those who value mature discussion.

Best of luck to the new owners & to Mary & Manny.

Think of all the “moderates” who, throughout history, have failed to oppose state-sanctioned aggression, oppression, and abuse, from slavery to child labor, while maligning those who call for change as dangerous and misguided, violent radicals. And yet, in retrospect, when a renewed social contract is established as the new normal, the unlawful actions that brought about these societal shifts are turned into mythical tales of nationalistic heroism and dates for kids to memorize at school.

      40. Mary, Thanks to both You and Manny for your vision…

in starting “Jackpine Radicals” which gave us Bernie supporters a safe and special place throughout the hard times before and after the 2016 Election–allowing us to be in a place where our views were both welcomed and respected.

Mary, your absolute fairness and gentle, respectful moderating hand in managing the site has helped us get through some really tough times.  Manny keeping the hamsters going, while dealing with his own personal challenges, along with you doing your best to deal with the many software glitches, as the site grew, while still managing your own personal challenges with job changes couldn’t have been easy, but has meant so much to so many of us.

Now that you have more freedom, I hope we will see more of you and your postings here in the coming days, as we face the challenging Midterms where so much is at stake.

It will be interesting to see how the new site develops, and best wishes to the new owners, as we move forward into ever more challenging times ahead.

There is no place I feel more at home than this wonderful haven in the storm that you’ve
created for we weary travelers. Your “touch” will be deeply missed,
though I share many other’s hope that your voice here will still be heard.
Yet I do take no small comfort in knowing that you leave the site
in the very capable hands of LOE and So Far From Heaven.
They, of course can count on my continued support. (Such that it is.)
In fact, this month hasn’t been too financially catastrophic so I guess I can throw in
another Bernie to help them out on the right footing.
      Peace to you Mary.

      65. I've not been online for a very long time.

Though I know how difficult this transition is for you, Mary, and for Manny, I also understand why. LandofEnchantment and SoFarFromheaven v are certain to keep Jim’s dream alive. I have no way to express the myriad of feelings this evokes in me. May all good things come to all of you. I will continue my new life as a Nomad and check in, when possible. Much Love, dear sweet compassionate Mary, you a truly a beautiful soul.
