JFK scoring several debating points at a rapid pace in the brief segment Jimmy showed. He brought up Lincoln, a Republican President in the context of a big government program.

Funny to think about, but Lincoln had “only” been dead 97 years when Kennedy spoke of him. That would be like speaking today of President Harding in 1922.

The Republicans were always the big business party. In the 1800s they wanted government railroad contracts, westward expansion but now that government is as big and powerful as it is they want less government, tax breaks, etc.

JFK’s policies were to the left of Bernie’s since he advocated M4A only 3 decades behind England. What are we now, a century behind?

Harry Truman also pushed for universal health care who had a do nothing congress. Even Al Gore he acknowledged in 2000 it wasn’t the right time in a debate he said he would like the US to eventually have universal health care coverage.
