(Sorry for the title – I wanted to test the maximum length.)

I don’t have a link I just wanted to share this info.  Earlier this year, the governor and the republican legislature passed a sewer bill law.  They replaced the text of the original sewer bill with a 291 page pension reform bill and passed it in the dead of night without giving citizens or legislators a chance to read it.  Everyone was quite pissed – especially the teachers but republicans mostly still won in November.

Within the past few days, the Kentucky Supreme Court found the sewer/pension law to be unconstitutional because of the underhanded way it was passed.

Gov. Bevin couldn’t handle losing so at 4 pm today he called a press conference where he ordered a special session to start at 8 pm the same day – which I think is unprecedented in Kentucky history.  Now keep in mind that the regular session starts in 22 days and a special session is estimated to cost a little over $60,000 per day.  Yet he wants people to believe he’s doing this because he cares about Kentucky’s fiscal health.   Who does he think he’s kidding?

Naturally there wasn’t much time to come up with a response to this but I saw dozens of people lining up outside the capital to protest this.  It will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Sorry for the rant but this is pretty fresh and I’m pissed about it.
