(HuffPo)The KFC fast food chain in Germany issued an apology on Wednesday after it sent an app alert suggesting customers commemorate the anniversary of Nazi-led attacks on Jews by eating cheesy chicken.
The chain’s German division sent a message to followers on its app that read: “It’s memorial day for Kristallnacht! Treat yourself with more tender cheese on your crispy chicken. Now at KFCheese!” the BBC reported.

Not surprisingly, many people found KFC’s promotion to be tasteless. Kristallnacht, or “Night of Broken Glass,” is considered the start of the Holocaust. The two-night rampage on Nov. 9-10, 1938, led to the destruction of 267 synagogues and thousands of other Jewish-owned businesses in Nazi Germany, as well as the deaths of 90 Jewish people and the arrest of thousands more.

About an hour after the alert, KFC issued a follow-up on the app that blamed the tasteless promotion on “an error in our system,” and added: “We are very sorry, we will check our internal processes immediately so that this does not happen again. Please excuse this error,” according to The Guardian.

Brains are obviously not necessary to run a corporation.

What else would motivate a corporation to produce an advertisement of such poor taste, other than disguised, evil intent?

KFC issued a follow-up on the app that blamed the tasteless promotion on “an error in our system,” and added: “We are very sorry, we will check our internal processes immediately so that this does not happen again. Please excuse this error,” according to The Guardian.

So their “internal processes” created an antisemitic commercial and it was aired due to an “error in our system”? Maybe the error in our system is actually the antisemitism itself? Maybe your corporate heiness could explain how such a thing came to exist in the first place?

There is no such thing as a good Nazi, however, I do think Nazi-ism and all other forms of fascism are perfect companions for capitalism, and I do agree that there is likely a concerted (if barely concealed) effort to normalize Nazi-ism in the West. Trump contributed “bigly” to that normalization (“I’m sure some of them are very good guys.”); both sides certainly are well aware of the capitalistic advantage to racism and other forms of hatred.  Never give your known enemy (in this case, the enemy is progress or human civilization itself) time to fight you: always give them something trivial, such as racial or religious hatred, instead, to occupy their meager attention spans.

ETA: I recently had an epiphany about why it seems the wealthy no longer care if they make Earth uninhabitable: because now that everything can be robotized, they don’t need the rest of us alive. They won’t even require much in the way of planetary resources when they’re locked in their underground bunkers, due to nuclear winter, though I can’t imagine how many generations will have to pass before the planet can be re-inhabited.

Nor a blue and yellow flag? Can people donate so Azov battalion troops can raise a cheesy chicken piece in a salute to Bandera?

P.S. Remember, according to many there’s nothing offensive or what could be said to be an obvious attempt at satire in my post.

Azov, Bandera, blue and yellow flags, saluting, sending support to them, that’s all “Kosher”, or whatever term they’d prefer to use instead.

And as long as Israel gets its money and weapons, and gets to display maximum hypocrisy by expanding their living room through the continuing theft of Palestinian land, and beating down Palestinians, they’re OK with the multi-national embrace of a regime that used Nazis to stay in power. Holy crap, but the incoming governing coalition has elements who’d have fit in with the Nazis, just exchange “Palestinian” for “Jew” in the rhetoric.

It’s remarkably similar to an Old Testament story, where the Israelites forget their duty to their God, become super-arrogant, corrupt, and cruel, and then get a visit from the Assyrians or Babylonians or Philistines or Romans for their sins.

It will happen again. I just don’t know exactly who will play the role of the vengeful heathens acting as God’s Instrument of Chastisement yet.
