DiFi, Manchin, and several other Ds voted Nay. Three other senators didn’t vote.
But blame it on Bernie.
That’s the end of Krystal and Saagar for me.

I don’t like that he didn’t vote for something so important, but could we at least find out *why* before jumping to conclusions & calling it a screwing?

@zopilote Are you not disappointed by him? Or is it OK just because he’s Bernie?
I can’t even say I’m surprised. The fact is, he did fail those of us who happen to like what’s left of our civil liberties. There’s no getting around that.

Democrats and Republicans to fuck the people. A truly bipartisan raping. A parliament of whores and cowards, every last one of them. Indefensible.

I’m still not voting for Biden but this taskforce is actually an improvement over the Clinton campaign which adopted Bernie’s college plan but she showed she didn’t mean it on that Howard Stern show criticizing his proposals as “chocolate milk for everybody”. If Biden wants to win unlike Clinton he will have to make a real effort to campaign for progressives. This task force is a start and I do like that Jayapal is on it since she has done the most for M4A in the House.
Still I can’t vote for Biden.
From my perspective a taskforce seems unnecessary since he can simply endorse his policies but maybe the task force will focus on other factors like the popularity of certain proposals.

thinking their progressive heroes have some influence over Biden and the establishment. What’s Bernie’s and AOCs leverage? They have none but they willingly go on with the charade.

An important function of a political party is to count votes and warn legislators they need to show up and vote when it’s gong to be close. In this case, with so many quisling Democrats voting against it, they may have thought it was a lost cause. I don’t really know what happened. What did Wyden’s staff do to run around and gather support? Was Sanders even approached? As others point out, the quislings vote with the Republicans, and it’s Sanders’ fault for failing to stop them.

Why is this so damn hard to grasp around here?

This was an extremely important vote, and there was adequate notice about it.

Not giving Bernie a pass on this. Unless he was sick that day, which is a possibility, I don’t understand why he didn’t vote on this bill.
