      Trump is fucked. Like Kyle says, few people care that much about culture wars when there’s a pandemic Trump is ignoring, we’ve entered the Second Great Depression, and everything seems to be spinning out of control. Trump is incompetent when the country needs, and that’s going to kill him.

      Of course, Biden will be next, though the Democrats will be at least competent in governing if not still bad for workers.

      Then you read some articles about vanishing kelp forests and ‘bleaching’ coral reefs or that microparticles of plastic permeate the entire biosphere, as a typical American gibbers about how a government needs to be “run” like a business.

      Governments don’t function like businesses, and running a government like one never bodes well for the people the government should be serving. Any ordinary person who believes “government should be run like a business” is a damned fool, IMO.

      Unfortunately, a lot of Americans are damned fools.

      @ohiobarbarian

      to believe that a system can render a greater value than what went into it. It’s magical thinking, plain and simple, and it is THE most influential doctrine in the formulation of America’s collective worldview. Nothing else distorts the nature of the world and the universe like it; not even fundamentalist religion, in my opinion.
