“I got my twelve hundred dollars from the coronavirus Illinois unemployment cause I was on furlough from YMCA. And I got my first unemployment check so I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll use this to buy it,'” Rittenhouse said in a phone interview with the Washington Post that was published Thursday.
Rittenhouse, 17, allegedly killed Anthony M. Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz during a protest over the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Rittenhouse’s friend Dominick Black, who has been charged with two counts of intentionally giving a dangerous weapon to a person under the age of 18 causing death, allegedly bought and stored the alleged murder weapon for Rittenhouse.
Black’s attorney claims there is no evidence he gave a firearm to Rittenhouse, according to a hearing Thursday where the attorney’s motion to drop charges against Black was denied.

That’s the only reason I can think of why this is “news”.

Everything I post is just my opinion, and, honestly, I would love to be wrong.

So far it seems like Mitch is the holdup on that front.

Really. Why is this news at all? If I hadn’t received a stimulus check, I wouldn’t have bought a gun when I did. So what? Who cares? Unless they want to prosecute his mother for enabling him.
But Pravda-on-the-Potomac doesn’t frame it that way, does it? No, this is classic elitist framing–we can’t send everybody free money, why, just look at how those low class people spent it the last time! Why, I never! Mustn’t do that again. Wouldn’t be prudent. The lower orders are just too irresponsible.
I think that’s what this is.

Wasn’t there $500 stimulus for minors in that bill? Now his Mom would have had to pass it on to him, but it sounds like she enabled him anyway.

… qualify for stimulus checks, nor be able to legally purchase a gun.
He might mean an unemployment check, which, if he was making minimum wage, would have been augmented due to covid. It still wouldn’t have been legal for him to buy the gun, though.

if people get stimulus checks, they will just use them to buy guns and kill people, so don’t give them anything, is that the logic at work here?
if you outlaw stimulus checks, only criminals will have money
