Lee Harvey Oswald Quietly Added To CIA Memorial Wall

SATIRE………..OR IS IT? But I enjoyed the tongue in cheek story.

I know its old satire but in light of our ‘intelligence” agencies  talk of the town I thought we might enjoy this.

LANGLEY, Va. – Startled employees of the Central Intelligence Agency discovered this morning that Lee Harvey Oswald had been quietly added to the memorial wall at CIA Headquarters. Oswald is widely believed to have assassinated U.S. President John F. Kennedy, or someone dressed like him, in Dallas in 1963.

The action does not appear to have been a prank. As of press time the extra star was still there, along with Oswald’s name listed in the memorial book, located between entries for fallen agents Felix Leiter and Charles Calthrop.

A spokesman from the CIA refused to comment or elaborate on why the agency has added Oswald’s name to the memorial, only saying that after 50 years several documents had been declassified, which have “finally allowed the Agency to set the record straight.”

The documents will be made available to the general public in another fifty years.

    1. it seems to be satire, or maybe "fake news."

“felix leiter” was played by jack lord in “dr no.”

        3. i appreciated the satire as satire of satire

oswald was certainly associated with the cia in some capacity, but the bond movies are themselves satire of the cold war.

    4. Charles Calthrop from "The Day of the Jackal"

From Wiki:   “Charles Calthrop: Charles Calthrop is the name of a former small-arms salesman who was in the Dominican Republic at the time Rafael Leónidas Trujillo was shot. The SIS later heard a rumour that Calthrop has helped the partisans kill Trujillo by shooting the driver of his armoured car, causing it to crash. In the book, the British police originally think Calthrop is the Jackal’s real name, until the real Calthrop shows up at the end, after the Jackal’s assassination attempt was thwarted. The authorities were misled by the fact that chacal (i.e., Cha[rles] Cal[throp]) is French for “jackal”. When the Jackal learns the French are looking for a Charles Calthrop, he doesn’t acknowledge this as his real name.
The character’s true name is never discovered by the authorities or revealed to the reader.”

      5. I noticed those two names too

Which is why I found the article  amusing considering its the number one satire site for military members……..

A former Marine infantryman runs a fake military news website — and he does it so well that officials have had to field questions from outraged readers who mistook the stories for fact.

Former Sgt. Paul Szoldra, of Lakeland, Fla., runs The Duffel Blog, the military’s equivalent to The Onion, a satirical newspaper. He has about 20 volunteer writers who regularly contribute stories from the Marine Corps, Army and Navy.

“I guess airmen just don’t have anything to complain about,” he joked about the lack of Air Force contributors.

They had another good satire on tearful Obama

WASHINGTON, D.C. — With less than 20 days left in office, a nostalgic and misty-eyed President Barack Obama today put his signature on his administration’s last batch of “farewell” drone strikes.

“When we’ve been told that we don’t have enough intelligence, there will be heavy civilian casualties, we’ll severely destabilize our allies, or we’ll wind up killing Americans without a trial, all I can say, is ‘Yes we did!’ and ‘Yes we can!’” Obama told a small group of CIA employees who were on hand to witness the event.

CIA Director John Brennan joked, “Uncle Sam has his own naughty list, and if you’re on it you get more than a lump of coal in your stocking,” as the President added to uproarious laughter, “Try one hundred pounds of Hellfire and a Happy New Year.”

Brennan has already dubbed the upcoming strike package — set to be carried out in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia — Operation REAPER HARVEST, though CIA employees still in the holiday spirit have nicknamed it “Operation Slay Ride.”
