Look, Obama, like every president who came before him, was imperfect. I personally wanted him to go bigger during the height of the financial crisis and spend billions, not just shoring up Wall Street—a necessary evil, given the state of the economy in 2009—but directly bailing out individual homeowners. And I wanted some high-profile perp walks of corporate executives, which we never got. Those were Obama policy failures, and they weren’t the only ones. He made mistakes on immigration and in foreign policy. His biggest regret is how he handled Libya. I questioned his drone war, knowing it was negatively affecting and killing too many innocent people, although I never saw someone describe an equally-effective alternative in the war on terror. I am partial to the idea of universal health care, given what I know about a system that still leaves too many people behind. And I didn’t appreciate some of the language in his speeches about absentee fathers.
He forgot the wars. But the thing is, why are we discussing Obama at all in conjunction with the 2020 race? We need to focus on the candidates solving problems, moving forward, creating a viable health care system, advocating for the lower and middle classes, curtailing corporate greed. Rehashing what Obama did or didn’t do isn’t productive.

I’ll comment at length later if I have the time. Meanwhile, just ask what would Glen Ford or others over at BAR have to say about this? I bet it would be colorful(sorry, could not resist the pun).

Most likely part of the neo-liberal establishment, just as Obama was, so no class consciousness allowed.
In America, “Liberty” means “Free to Die in Service of Capital” - Amfortas the hippie.
Most of today’s elites have the moral and social reasoning capacities of spoiled toddlers.

the author’s worldview is predicated on layers of erroneous assumptions about a huge variety of issues, so he proceeds from a vague, poorly formed establishmentarian view on economic and foreign policies. He obviously embraces capitalism and emperialism, and he doesn’t breath a word about ecological collapse. He only imagines that he’s a smart cookie.

I remember when the decrees came down at another site, no more criticizing the Icon.
One pattern Obama left was the racial polarization of the voters. Not just whites. When there is a POC candidate, POC turn out. When the candidate is white, they don’t. Problem is the whites tend to turn out in droves for Republicans, at least here in the south.

The news is not the news anymore. More and more news is designed to signal the masses on what they should think and do. Only positive glowing articles abut the obamas because we are all suppose to love them they are so great, wouldn’t michelle make a great president. Nothing positive about trump – he is an outsider to our club, we are all suppose to loath him. Expect more glowing “news” about K harris suckers.

It’s the same intellectual dishonesty, strawman arguments, and heaps of projection and condescension over and over. I’ll leave it up the the author’s imagination where I think he can stick his lecture.

But he was a trojan horse. Had me fooled. I knew it as soon as I saw how he filled his cabinet positions. I have always held the belief that great leaders surround themselves with great people. Obama surrounded himself with Brokers and Bankers.
It was an eye opener for me.
My political transition from die hard Democrat to Independent didn’t come overnight. It was incremental over time. Obama’s term got me started. He pushed TPP harder than anything else in his final term.

Obama bailed out Wall Street and left Main Street to die homeless and penniless. Started 5 new wars. Didn’t prosecute a single CEO from the Republican Depression of 2008. Wanted whistle blowers to be sent to prison for telling the truth. Called the Americans that tortured innocent people at Abu Ghraib “heros” and “patriots”. Let BP walk all over the people in the Gulf Coast region. Picked a conservative healthcare plan over healthcare for all.
I could go on and on BUT I just want to say;
CLUCK that corporate tool.
Forcing people to work without pay is akin to slavery.
