Outgoing Indiana Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly said Democrats need to be careful in promoting too many progressive ideas in red states like his because they’ll “start losing the people in my state.”
“Medicare-for-all” is a progressive stance that some Democrats worry could alienate Midwestern voters from the party going into the 2020 presidential election. It has become popular thanks to liberal leaders like Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
When asked by CNN’s Dana Bash on “The Lead With Jake Tapper” if Democrats could be viable without appealing to interior state votes, Donnelly replied, “I don’t know how you do that.”
Donnelly said that during President Donald Trump’s visits to Indiana in the weeks before the midterms — in which Donnelly lost his seat — the President made not voting for Republicans seem like a personal betrayal by voters.

because they actually can get health care, is such a pipe dream. Why is anyone still listening to this rectal polyp, anyway? He LOST his election, and now wants to tell others how to win theirs? Don’t think so.

that “Medicare for all” would translate into Medicare being spread too thin – so seniors (the most frail demographic) will see their coverage slashed while younger, healthier people get a slab of the pie.
I don’t know if that’s what people fear. But if it is, the solution is to tackle people’s fears and explain the nuts-and-bolts of financing MFA.

Promote good policies that help with ordinary people’s standard of living and you’ll start winning more and more voters. A radical idea, I know.

Why did he lose…….just take a look at this stack-of-sh*t’s ad. This empty suit offered nothing but ideas that favored republicans and Thirdway feckheads. He is part of a greater gang of Thirdway weasels like McCaskill, Heitkamp, Manchin……they are a disgrace to all who voted them into office.

Obama won Indiana in 2008, the first time the state went blue since LBJ. People forget that while Obama governed as a moderate republican, his platform was pretty leftist, including, among other things, progressive healthcare reform.

It’s all about giving the people someone to vote FOR.

…and has the largest population of KKK members, north of the Mason-Dixon line?
David Lee Roth, Axl Rose, and John Mellencamp were all born in Indiana, so I guess it can’t be all terrible. But then, they also knew enough to leave the state.
