Man Cited As Trump's "Russian Link" Actually Works For The FBI

Felix Sater, the man at the center of a controversial email “tying” President Trump to Russia while trying to work a business deal, has come forward in a comprehensive BuzzFeed News Exposé, which if Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Anthony Cormier and co-author Jason Leopold hadn’t verified – nobody would believe.

Sater went from a “Wall Street wunderkind” working at Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers, to getting barred from the securities industry over a barroom brawl which led to a year in prison, to facilitating a $40 million pump-and-dump stock scheme for the New York mafia, to working telecom deals in Russia – where the FBI and CIA tapped him as an undercover intelligence asset who was told by his handler “I want you to understand: If you’re caught, the USA is going to disavow you and, at best, you get a bullet in the head.”

Sater – whose code name was “The Quarterback,” ended up providing such valuable information to U.S. intelligence agencies – such as five of Osama bin Laden’s satellite phone numbers (by flipping Mullah Omar’s personal secretary, “who was living inside a cave with bin Laden”) – that the FBI and two federal prosecutors showed up at his trial after the $40 million stock scheme caught up with Sater – and vouched for him.

    2. Add Sater to Page, Deripaska, Papadopoulos. The whole

construct that became “Russiagate” was never anything more than a vast entrapment operation using a series of FBI informants and third-country spy services.  They’re all branches of a poisoned tree.

      6. even Veselnetskaya–a private honeypot to go with the FBI one,

an echo of what was being done at the larger scale

and they still couldn’t find anything–frankly each subunit of this caper looks like it was trying to gin up things that’d keep the other subunits going (Fusion, Strzok, Rice, the DNC) until they Inevitably Found Something

(and of course this could be a limited hangout like everything else–Deripaska’s suddenly vocal about how Fusion’s part of a grand conspiracy he has no part of, no siree) that gets Hannity talking and then walked back, like Dotcom on Rich last year

          14. The overriding interest seems to be to make deals to protect NY bank accounts

The Majinsky Act and its “money laundering” and assets seizures provisions threatened people a lot more than anything else the FBI could bring to bear.  We have Derepaska making deals upon arrival in 2009, Sater made his deals with the FBI/CIA a long time back, Katsyv seems to be playing a major part to protect his NY assets and was an early funder of Fusion GPS.  I’m sure there are others.

The Feds and Spooks put the squeeze on all of the oligarchs to turn on Putin.  It could be just as much the other way around, too.

        11. Vaselnetskaya relationship with Fusion dates back to her 2013 work for Katsyv

Katsyv and Deripaska have interests in common in GPS, which intersect with Adam Waldman, OD’s lobbyist and executive in one of Oleg’s NY corporations.  This brings us to Dennis Jones, who like some others at GPS, is also a subject of Deripaska’s recent increasingly public pronouncements.  As “Tyler D” reported the other day: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-09/russian-billionaire-claims-fusion-gps-funded-soros

In a Daily Caller op-ed calling the Russian meddling narrative a “false public manipulation,” Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska claims that Daniel Jones – a former FBI investigator, Feinstein staffer and now a Fusion GPS operative – told the Russian Oligarch’s lawyer in March, 2017 that Fusion GPS was funded by “a group of Silicon Valley billionaires and George Soros.” Of note, Deripaska’s lawyer, D.C. lobbyist Adam Waldman, recommended Jones to investigate and verify the claims from the Fusion GPS anti-Trump dossier assembled by former UK spy Christopher Steele. Waldman was also an intermediary between Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Steele in trying to arrange a meeting – which suggests that Waldman, Jones, Steele and Fusion GPS are all connected.

Deripaska describes the ongoing “Russia narrative” as nothing more than a scandal manufactured by the deep state. “Wagging the dog costs money,” writes Deripaska. “So, who is the “funding mechanism” of this “shadowy government?”” Why, none other than billionaire financier George Soros, according to Daniel Jones – as relayed to Congressional investigators by Deripaska’s attorney Adam Waldman:

[O]n March 16, 2017, Daniel Jones — himself a team member of Fusion GPS, self-described former FBI agent and, as we now know from the media, an ex-Feinstein staffer — met with my lawyer, Adam Waldman, and described Fusion as a “shadow media organization helping the government,” funded by a “group of Silicon Valley billionaires and George Soros.” My lawyer testified these facts to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Nov. 3. Mr. Soros is, not coincidentally, also the funder of two “ethics watchdog” NGOs (Democracy 21 and CREW) attacking Rep. Nunes’ committee memo. Jones currently runs the Penn Quarter Group, a “research and investigative advisory” firm whose website was registered in April of 2016, days before Steele delivered his first in a series of Trump-Russia memos. Jones began tweeting out articles suggesting illicit ties between the Trump campaign and Russia as early as 2017. Jones comes up in leaked text messages between Sen. Warner and Waldman as a point of contact for Christopher Steele. The encrypted text messages, leaked to Fox News, discuss efforts by Warner to secure Steele’s testimony.

“I spoke w Steele,” Waldman wrote on April 25, 2017. “He repeated the same position which is that he wants to be helpful but is fearful of the triumvirate of cost, time suck and reputation.”

“He asked me what your concern was about a letter first and I explained it but he would still like as a first protective step from you and [Sen. Richard] Burr asking him and his partner to assist w the investigation by answering questions,” Waldman added. “He [Steele] said he will also speak w Dan Jones whom he says is talking to you.”

“I pointed out there is no privilege in that discussion although Dan [Jones] is a good guy and very trustworthy guy. I encouraged him again to engage with you for the sake of the truth and of vindication of the dossier,” he wrote.  -Adam Waldman to Mark warner

            13. Less Spy vs Spy and more Billionaires preying on Billionaires.

Maybe to understand this 21st Century intrigue, the old warring royals model of the 17th or 18th Century is more appropriate than the modernist 20th Century international state conflict paradigm.

    3. Here's the link to the article, itself.

Meanwhile, Sater is still working for the FBI, according to two current FBI agents. Moreover, he has relationships with at least six members of Robert Mueller’s team, “some going back more than 10 years.”

To this day, Sater continues to cooperate with the FBI and Justice Department, he said in his statement to the House Intelligence Committee. He wouldn’t disclose additional details, except to say that he works on “international matters.” Two US officials confirmed Sater continues to be a reliable asset.

As for his regular life, when he relocated back to the US in 2010, he recalled, “Donald said, ‘Where have you been?’” Sater said Trump asked him to join the Trump Organization. “That’s when I became senior advisor to him,” he said. The Trump Organization and the White House declined to comment. -BuzzFeed

    4. Hillary was going to inherit quite the set-up. No wonder she is so

dementedly angry.  Same for the CIA.  It looks to me like they ALL would have been better off if Hillary & Co, had just STFU and stayed home.  I believe they thought they could engineer an impeachment, and when that failed, they are just flailing around, shooting gobbets of bullshit all over the world.

    • *Obligatory disclaimer - when I say "Democratic Party" I mean the DNC - the Clintons and the un-elected people and the consultants and the lobbyists and the corporations who actually run things.  The people who work and vote and are registered as "D" are no more the actual party than Trekkies are Star Trek.   Extra credit - the Democratic Party gets to actually fuck up your life. When you vote for it.
You think the only reason that people won't vote for a warmongering Third Way fracking-enabling cluster bomb throwing H-1B increasing lying pandering corporate and Wall Street shill who says she has no problem putting abortion rights on the table is because we are mad about Bernie?  Um, nope.
