Marianne Williamson: “Our democracy wasn’t just attacked on Janusry 6; our democracy is attacked every day of the week, and has been for the last forty years. The real ‘attack on our democracy’ wasn’t just one event that took place a year ago; it’s the larger pattern of legalized bribery that’s destroying our democracy from the inside. Everytime resources of hope and opportunity are transferred from the many to the few, our democracy is attacked. The main point of the attack is the systemic corruption that goes on in the Capitol building every single day.
This is not a time in our lives to pussyfoot around the truth. It’s not a time in our history to allow our devotion to something as ultimately meaningless as a political party to blind us to the truth of our circumstances.
The real dichotomy in American politics is not between the Right and the Left; it’s between the powerful and the powerless. The political-media industrial complex, headquartered in both parties, has created the Left-Right culture wars to distract Americans from the truth of who and what actually oppresses them
Our fellow citizens are not our enemies. Greed is our enemy. Abusive power is our enemy. Injustice is our enemy. Unfettered corporate influence is our enemy.”

Marianne Williamson: “I have a friend who said to me the other day, ‘We thought Trump was the wakeup call. It turns out Biden is the wakeup call.’ The wakeup call is that neither one of them is helping us. The working class in America is going ‘Will the Republicans do it? Will the Democrats do it?’ And now people are like ‘neither one of them will do it’.” They both represent the status-quo.

Marianne Williamson: “I’m not enrolled in the idea that we should just assume that Biden will be running again.”

A lot of truth-telling. I guess she’s at the “eff it” phase of her life, in which she can finally take the gloves off. Thanks for posting. 🙂

The bit starting at 7:49 is kind of frightening (talking about Nancy Pelosi doing her best to help corrupt AOC):

“Something is going to fundamentally correct itself, or become fundamentally horrible.” The way she say this. She’s saying, no amount of propaganda or bread/circuses is going to have any effect on the coming pushback from the great numbers of Americans who have been jettisoned by neoliberal, fascist forces – it is simply a matter of time, and if things don’t get better, there is going to be a massive confrontation, and one side is going to win, and one side is going to lose very big. So why let things get that bad? We know what we have to do, we must do it, now.

The candidates that we have the “right” to vote for are either corrupt, or will be corrupted.    All a farce, and all designed to take attention away for the corruption.  Congress/president does not work for us in any way.

Everything I post is just my opinion, and, honestly, I would love to be wrong.

"black flag" is an inadvertent mash-up of black ops and false flag. . I think it is accurate, and I will keep it. Thanks to those who pointed it out!

She’s a hero to the LGBT Community, having started Project Angel Food in LA in the 80’s when all my friends were dying of AIDS.

Those were the days when she would give spiritual lectures in West Hollywood and cool people like Cher would show up, just blending in with the crowd.

She’s a total kook, but NOT a false prophet! She’s right on every issue, except that she was late in coming around to Medicare 4 all.

I have never seen her directly renounce capitalism: that would be a nail in the coffin of any political career at this time. The general public is still far from recognizing that capitalism IS THE PROBLEM. But her stances on the issues do renounce it, regardless.

when ‘political revolutions’ are referred to no one mentions the classic and more recent peasantworkers’ revolution which was in Russia or the peasants’ revolution in China.   The model always seems to be  Western centrism…Certainly Chinese/Soviet/Russian governments have had and have flaws, and each political system must tailor itself to the particular cultural/geographic features which which its country is endowed.  But there is similarly major flaws within our own government and things that we could learn from other political systems.  One of the biggest flaws I see from Williamson, et.al. is being so blinded to what other non Western cultures have accomplished and what they have to offer….

I also find it extremely troubling that compared to other political cultures, the left in the US is seemingly so weak to non-existant….Within Russia and French political movements there were a plethora of political ideologies….The only political ideologies of major consequence within the US seems to be on the right of center.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.....Martin Luther King '63

It takes all the technical proficiency our system can provide to make up for the woeful lack of popular support and political savvy of most of the regimes that the West has thus far sought to prop up.........Bernard Fall

rugged individualism and the Horatio Algier myth: pulling oneself up by nonexistent bootstraps.

I also find it extremely troubling that compared to other political cultures, the left in the US is seemingly so weak to non-existant

Me too, but I think I know why the lack of a left-wing mostly happens in the US: I’m aware I sound “New Agey” if I say that the American collective subconscious is STEEPED in these false myths, and has forever been so, since the nation was founded. But I don’t know another way to say it. We’re constantly, relentlessly bombarded with such false ideas. “Quitters never win.” (That carries a secret, hidden message that “Maintenance of the status quo is the only real ‘win’.”) Like Emma Goldman said, rugged individualism means all the individualism for the masters and the rugged for everyone else. And in fact, capitalism depends on large amounts of people falling for these absurd myths. Just like the “trickle-down” nonsense, which Pope Francis has declared is the ONLY economic idea conservatives have had, since the time of Christ!

I don’t say any of this to defend American culture. To the contrary, I’m suggesting that America lacks a solid “Left” because the leftist position lacks a populist mythology that is capable of doing battle with the false but populist myths of the right, which have become so normalized and ingrained into our awareness by our two, right-wing corporate parties.

What would a good myth be for the left? I’m not really sure. Perhaps FDR’s “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself”? Maybe we are distinguished by having no myth: having science be on our side, instead of myth. Regardless, I do think it’s important to do battle with these false ideas, or at least expose them. And I do think they have very tangible effects on the general population.

When she was Oprah’s darling, peddling that New Age crapola.

But something apparently got to her.She makes more sense than most professional politicians do these days.

Perhaps it is because she is also a poet, and looking behind the curtain is part of the job description.
