I see that Mitch’s prick is alive and well in ’19.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Wednesday said he’ll reject legislation proposed by House Democrats to fund nine partially closed government departments without money included for a border wall.

“The legislation that the House Democrats are reportedly planning to introduce and vote on tomorrow will not be a serious contribution to the negotiations that are ongoing between the administration and the incoming Democratic majority in the House,” McConnell, R-Ky., said Wednesday. “It isn’t comprehensive, it ignores the needs of border security, it’s exactly the kind of proposal you’d expect if the incoming House Democrats are choosing to stage a political sideshow rather than doing the hard work of helping govern the country. In other words, a total nonstarter.”

McConnell met with incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., at the White House with President Trump Wednesday but leaders emerged without a deal to pass funding for about 25 percent of the federal government.

We all knew that Old Mitch the Turtle would carry the President’s water for him. Trump is trying to pin the shut-down on the Dems, but he already took the blame on himself on TV. A lot of people are going without a paycheck and a lot of Government facilities are closed and not being maintained. It won’t take long for the citizens to get really pissed at these clowns and demand action.

So much so that all of the furloughed federal employees eventually quit for greener pastures elsewhere.  The resulting lawsuits will be interesting to watch.

Until 2020 and the possibility of a new Senate and new Executive, what do the Republicans really have to lose?  Not much.

Mitch McConnell is equally responsible for holding the American citizenry hostage; all in an effort to build a monument to the ego of a scared weak old man. An old man who has never in his entire life done anything to help his nation.

Because while the repugs have solid locks on the red states.  These actions and their support of 45 will probably lose many of the blue/purple states they need to keep the Senate.  Because folks (that is non-45ers) without jobs or in bad financial straits tend to remember the ones that put them there-and will respond in kind.

because a Trump wants to make his conservative base happy.

I don’t know if you have ever lived in a southern border area, but I have, and my opinion is based on what I have seen in my personal life.

For the record I am not in the blue gang nor the red gang. Just a guy with an opinion.

Yes you are correct that Trump wants to please his base, do you also believe that the Dem base is all in for not having a wall/fence of some sort? I don’t.

I feel border security is an American issue and should not be used for politics.

That’s just me, your thoughts might be different and I can understand that.

I also could find better uses for 5 Billion Dollars, but the Government throws Trillions of dollars around the world like it’s not real money, so throw some in for the southern border.

Illegal immigration is at historic lows. Trump and his conservative base love to play the ‘Danger! Danger! game’. That was their main tactic leading up to the 2018 vote. It did not work so well for them, thankfully.

Not, ALL in for not having a wall. but polls all show that conservatives support a wall and liberals do not. Perhaps liberals are not as informed as you are based on what you have seen in your personal life.

Agreed. And caving to Trump on this government shutdown over a border wall would reward him for playing politics with the issue.

No matter what, if T is for it we have to resist it. What a lot of ppl do not realize is that T is hated bc he is not one of them and doesn’t play by their rules. He doesnt know that he is only suppose to give lip service and be for things that have no chance to pass. Just think if Obama had a spine and actually fought for his campaign promises…many voters have more respect for T now, he is so unlike the Ds who caved after a weekend closure for DACA, which shows how much they really cared. T has even offered some DACA in exchange for the 5 billion (a pittance) yet the Ds continue their mindless resistance.

Basically the Ds know this is the 2020 election right now to give T the money gets him reelected for sure.

I have not seem many liberal/progressive voters who ‘respect’ a conservative politician for living up to conservative campaign promises (cutting taxes for the rich and the regulation of their corporations, ignoring climate change and promoting the fossil fuel industry, a HUUUGGE increase in military spending, appointing people who have proven to be corrupt criminals on an unprecedented scale (not exactly ‘draining the swamp’ but rather stocking it with crocodiles), etc.

T is playing conservative base politics with the ‘fear the immigrant – build the wall’ campaign. It works. Polls show immigration is near the top of concerns for conservative voters.

Everyone knows he hates compassion and truth. Everyone knows he is a foul criminal ghoul. He gets off on the suffering of others.

Those 800k federal workers (and the millions of others affected by lack of daily commerce) mean NOTHING to a guy like Mitch. He gets HIS paycheck and who knows how much money he launders for his wives father.

Keep voting that piece of trash back in and misery will surely follow.  He enjoys it.

Forcing people to work without pay is akin to slavery.
