Not my favorite source for news stories but this one is true:

“Female has a shotgun in her hand, stand by,” a sheriff’s deputy is heard telling a dispatcher.

“They’re shooting at me,” the deputy says. “Hold the air. I’m code 4. She’s re-racking a round inside the shotgun.”

The two broke out of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, a foster home, and broke into the house (loaded with guns) in Enterprise, the outlet said.

Just another day in America. The officer is surprisingly cool under fire that goes on for over 30 minutes per the time code.

These two, who are barely in their teens, left a foster home ran by United Methodist. As far as, “…broke out…”, are these children in cells with bars and doors with automatic locks. The way conditions are described in this ‘foster home’ are unreal.

All in all, my hope is, because these weapons were used in crime are confiscated and not returned to the owner. The reason being is, it very well likely the guns were loaded before the break in. Useless the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home has a gun training course as part of their program, where did these kids learn how to load a gun, rifle, and shotgun with the proper ammo?

      They would have been bodies.

Generally, juveniles are not named in newspaper accounts.

Corporate America consists of totalitarian entities laser-focused on short-term greed.

Video of the ‘shootout’ — the girl “Bonnie” fired one shot before she was shot by police.  Photos at link.

Not even 30 minutes so far as I can tell between the first shot by the girl and the boy’s surrender.   “Evil Bonnie & Clyde” my ass.  I’d say the chief is doing a little CYA for nearly killing a kid. The chief says the kids said they came to “kill cops”.  Where’d he hear that?  Charged with “attempted murder of police officers and ARMED burglary,” though they had no arms until they found them in the house.    Of course it’s FLORIDA.

And the “group home” they were locked up in was a prison.  What a horrible system we have.

“Female has a shotgun in her hand, stand by,” a sheriff’s deputy is heard telling a dispatcher.  “Put the gun down now!” he yells.

      A shot then rings out.

“They’re shooting at me,” the deputy says. “Hold the air. I’m code 4. She’s re-racking a round inside the shotgun.”

“Let’s not engage them anymore,” the dispatcher responds. “Let’s not challenge them.”

“She’s racked a round in the shotgun,” the deputy shoots back. “The windows is busted on the patio side. If she’ comes out she’s going to have the shotgun.”

Moments later the teen girl is hit with return fire from the officers as she steps out of the house with the shotgun — and is heard shrieking in pain.

“I think the female’s down,” a deputy says. “Call in the units. Female’s on the ground behind the car.”  The footage then shows the boy surrendering and being taken into custody.

Why are they mixing male and female juvies at all?!

He gives a quick review of the horror show that this group home has become. They print a timeline of the radio calls, getting shot at and trying to de-escalate. I’m surprised no one is dead. Insanity.

      Chitwood’s a proven liar.

Hes probably lying about the group home too.

Anyone but his own police force who shot 2 kids 60 times in return for 4 shots/

And nearly killed the girl (hit in gut, saved by emergency surgery)

      The dispatcher recommended not engaging

The cop he was talking to didn’t like that route

      about the details of this.

      To me this incident shows:
      – failure of the Florida system to protect this girl from rape. What do they think is going to happen to her at that unsupervised hell hole where adults were recently beaten to death?
      – lack of mental health services for juveniles
      – easy access to high powered weapons and ammunition
      – the police can show restraint and try de-escalation IF they want to

Not sure what Chitwood would have lied about in this incident. The bodycam agrees with what he said. A full investigation with number of shots fired by all involved is forthcoming.

Nicole stole puppies, set multiple fires in Flagler, broke into a home, smashed it up with a baseball bat, fired on police, knows how to use and reload a shotgun, refused to de-escalate, refused to surrender — what course of action should adults have take that night?

Travis emptied the entire banana clip on the AK47 — that is 10 rounds minimum but more likely 30 rounds (depends on the size of the clip). The girl was loading and racking rounds in the shotgun.  When are police allowed to fire back?

“easy access to high powered weapons and ammunition”

-the kids found all those weapons in the house they broke into.  the homeowner is complaining because he doesn’t know if its safe now for him and his ‘two girls’ to live there anymore.  he’s got an ak, 200 rounds of ammunition, pistol, shotgun and whatever else in his house (apparently not locked up if this 12 year old and 14 year old could get them.)  what’s *his* story?

–why are these kids being charged with *armed* burglary when they went into the house *unarmed*?

show me some report that the girl set ‘multiple fires’ in ‘flagler’ (?) or anywhere, +   (Never mind, found it: happened in a different county where she’d been sent to yet another group home: 6 felony counts in april.  sent back home, did teen court, didn’t comply, wound up at the methodist home (prior to running away from a couple of foster placements per another story)

the sheriff said in an earlier story she burned down a house, and later changed that to setting a fire in a vacant lot that “could have” got near houses, and now this, in an entirely different county.  Either the sheriff is lying, is careless with the facts, or the reporting is really lousy.  I can’t think of any other possibilities.

please show me some report that says ‘travis unloaded the entire banana clip on the ak’ because the reports i read said the kids fired 4 rounds total and the cops fired 60 between something like 8 cops.   who i assume were positioned around the house, it wasn’t just that one cop behind a tree taking on dangerous ‘bonnie and clyde,’ the dognapper and the diabetic foster kid.   But if ‘travis unloaded the entire banana clip’ why couldn’t he hit anything?  You’d think you’d hit something just by spraying the area.  Why does the headline say “Female has an AK47”?   Where did this boy learn how to shoot and load an AK47 when he’d never had any involvement with violence previously and in fact his only “crime” had been to be in the foster care system?

–Here’s a new report from the lying sheriff chitwood, muddying the waters still further:

“The boy and a 14-year-old girl are accused of shooting at deputies for hours on Tuesday in a home that Sheriff Mike Chitwood said they broke into.

This went on for hours. This wasn’t a split second, we exchange gunfire. We were out here from 7:30 until 9 o’clock until we returned fire,‘ Chitwood said.”

–So now he’s saying the kids were shooting ‘for hours’?  It’s written to give that impression without explicitly saying it.  Bad reporting, but is it deliberately giving a false impression or just bad journalism?

–Here’s an earlier report; he can’t keep his stories straight apparently.

‘Both youngsters allegedly fired at deputies four separate times over a 35-minute span, the chief said.  The deputies in the incident were “left with no other choice” but to return fire, the chief told reporters at a press conference.’

–Here’s the ‘timeline’ from another story (I think you posted it)

According to Chitwood, as deputies surrounded the home, they were met with gunfire, multiple times.

At 8:28 p.m., a sergeant took gunfire multiple times, but did not return fire. The children continued to shoot at deputies, the sheriff said.

At 8:40 p.m., the 14-year-old girl emerged from the home and threatened to kill a deputy, Chitwood said.  The 14-year-old then came out of the garage, armed with a firearm, and was then shot by deputies. The 12-year-old boy decided to surrender, the sheriff said.

8:28 to 8:40 = 12 minutes.  Maybe 12 more minutes to come out of the garage and get shot.  Maybe 12 more for the boy to surrender = 36 minutes tops.  That’s 12 minutes of shooting by kids.

Either the cops are lying or the reporters aren’t paying attention, but the reports all give way different impressions.  I won’t say ‘stories’ cause they aren’t even coherent enough on their face to make a story.

In this story the sheriff says they got a call at 5 pm that the kids had escaped from the Methodist home.  Cops went looking for the kids cause the boy is an insulin-dependent (type 1) diabetic.  Everytime they caught up to the kids, the kids ran away.  7 pm someone reported hearing something at the house with the gun stash.  They call the homeowner who says no one should be there.  Except for that, no report of what happened between 7 pm and 8:28.  I’m assuming the cops came and surrounded the house, called in the plane/helicopter and there was 12 minutes of shooting by kids before they shot the girl and the boy surrendered.

And here’s the part about how many shots the cops fired:  this from 6/2, the day of this press conference.

“At a Wednesday press conference, Chitwood said deputies fired a total of 60 shots. Eight deputies have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the results of an investigation into the shooting.”

The police fired 60 times, 60 shots/8 deputies = 7.5 shots apiece.  Where’s the video of those 60 shots?  Why assume that every shot you hear on the excerpted video the cops released is from the kids?  How is 60 shots de-escalation?  Where’s the video of them doing all this de-escalation?
