aimed at the left by its so-called leaders and left leaning media. This post is another prime example of lying and fucking with the heads of lefties. I was going to apologize for posting this but I’m not at all sorry. Where were these memes 5 days ago when Trump was the only one “fighting for $2000 stimulus checks”? The memes couldn’t have been created because the Democrats were only going to allow for a $600 stimulus check (Bernie quickly caved from $1200 to $600) until Trump outlefted them and demanded $2000. That’s the timeline. That’s what happened. Let’s stop bullshitting eachother.

I think it was Bernie who first mentioned $2000, but I could be wrong.

Trump offered $2000, but it was tied to repealing net neutrality ang giving corporate immunity.

Pelost blocked it to make Trump look bad for the election.

After the election she said that it wasn’t necessary because Biden won.

McConnell offered $2000, but tied it to repealing net neutrality and granting corporate immunity.

So we’re stuck with jail time for having a Mickey Mouse poster in the background during a zoom call and only $600 but at least we can still sue companies if they give us COVID.

Bernie Sanders did propose a $2000 payment per month back in late February or early March. He received zero support from the Democrats. He caved and voted for the CARES Act, but did manage to get the $600 per week bump up in unemployment benefits for a few months added in. That was a good thing, but it was never sufficient, and I will never forget that just a few progressive Democrats could have blackmailed Wall Street for far more and miserably failed to do do.

does have his timeline right. Bernie started with the compromise position of a one time $1200 check this go round, and settled for $600. Then Trump did come out for $2000 and Pelosi and Schumer cynically jumped on board, confident in the knowledge the Turtle would make sure it never got through the Senate. When it looked like it really might if the Defense bill could be held hostage, they quickly capitulated to enable McConnell to get that through, thus flying their true colors yet again.

Trump clearly wasn’t all that serious about it, or he would have been a lot louder, but acknowledging he did call for it does not make one a Trump supporter.

OB- It may not make one a trump supporter, but it does make one a dupe. Trump was intimately involved in the negotiations for the Bill and only after everything was nearly agreed upon did he bother to raise the request. He has repeatedly done this sort of con job while President. He pulls some half-assed plan out at the last minute which is predictably canned by the rest of DC. I am sick and tired of people saying Trump has our best interests in mind when he has deliberately failed time and time again. Note he did not muck around with the Big Tax cut, no last minute appeals there to help out the little people.

He can’t negotiate his way out of a paper bag. He wasn’t even paying attention to the negotiations. So I agree with you in a way–his call for the $2000 was just a wild hair he pulled out of his ass one day, and he wasn’t serious about it at all. Yes, anyone who believes Trump was proposing it because he believed in it or cared about people is a dupe.

The disgusting thing is that it was Trump who proposed it this time around. Not Biden. Not Harris. Not Pelosi. Not Schumer. Not AOC. They were quite prepared to sign off on the $600 without a fight until Trump blundered into the right button to push and at least forced them to crank up the old kabuki theater for a few days. I conclude, therefore, that anyone who believes that Schumer and Pelosi, and by implication Biden, ever wanted the 2K is every bit as much of a dupe as those who think Trump is fighting for them.
