I don’t get this, Trump is already impeached in the house and any delays going forward now are because of Pelosi’s waiting strategy.

While moore does seems to have an unfortunate habit of still living in the 90’s, I think the point he’s making is that this is a distraction play by Trump – for the impeachment, for the election, for whatever’s going on.

Poppy Bush did it by jumping on Somalia the moment he lost the 1992 election. Clinton did it in 1996 by launching cruise missile strikes on Iraq the month before the election, and again at various stages during his impeachment. And… i guess it’s hard to pinpoint action by Dubya and Obama in this regard, since we’ve had 19 years of constant military bullshit and it all kind of goops together regardless of date, doesn’t it?

Now we’re at war with Iran. You don’t remove presidents from office during a war. A very convenient tactic if you’re evil enough to kill innocent people to save your own sorry arse…which some presidents have done…hence this tweet.

    There ya go.

However, I believe the impeachment is stupid, so there’s that. ;) I don’t give two hoots if it’s postponed. It keeps Bernie on the campaign trail.

Michael Moore is incredible. How the hell did he remember that?

See Red Menace’s comment.  The ’90s were so good to Mike that he’s still living them.

But MM has a disingenuous way of appealing to the diseased psyches that have been scooped out of the American gutters and will get infected by the Orange menace’s twisted fantasies, quoting Moore as the justification.

Little known factoid: FDR responded to the Japanese invasion of Manchuria by ordering a series of sanctions – but he specifically excluded naval fuel oil, because that would be a direct threat to the Imperial Navy and trigger a war. But someone secretly included the oil into the list of sanctions. The Secretary of State was unwilling to admit the forgery because it would show that he was not in control his underlings, so he chose to let the list stand. Hence Pearl Harbor. (The forger turned out to be Dean Acheson, who later became Secretary of State, where he repeated his insubordination by going to Paris and convincing DeGaule to return to Viet Nam. Once again FDR was vehemently opposed to the French return, actually threatening armed resistance to defend Viet Nam from the French. He had to wait until FDR was safely dead this time.)

I tell this story because Trump might possibly be the tool of a similar stunt. Someone could have ordered the assassination without Trump’s knowledge, assuming he would respond with his usual refusal to admit that he was not in complete control and bluster. This would lead to accusations of distraction and anti war protests. Trump would (with strategic nudging) over react and…

@doh1304 You’re defending Trump on this. Seriously? Yes, seriously. Jeezus H. Christ on a Harley. Trump ordered the air strike! He’s taken full responsibility, and yet you’re defending this deadly clown. He could have said no.

As for Manchuria, your facts are all mixed up, as is usual with this type of conspiracy theory. The Japanese invaded Manchuria in 1931, when Hoover was President. There were no sanctions imposed until after the Rape of Nanking in 1937, and those did not include oil. Oil supplies to Japan were not cut off until after the Japanese occupied what had been French Indochina in 1940, and not only oil was sanctioned, but the Panama Canal was closed to Japanese shipping.

FDR was fully aware of that at the time. He wasn’t a tool then and Trump isn’t an unwilling tool now.

Calm down. I’m defending nobody, least of all the idiot blowhard. Of course he will claim he ordered the assassination – he almost certainly did, but only almost. He thinks he’s invincible and omnipotent. He would never admit that someone would do anything behind his back, especially if someone did.

FDR screwed up, and the guy who went behind his back got to be Secretary of State. LBJ screwed up, and Nixon became POTUS. Jimmy Carter screwed up, and Reagan became POTUS. Trump turned America into Versailles on ergot; it’s amazing it took this long before something catastrophic happened. I expected Trump to bluster his way into WW3 with China years ago. If some ambitious colonel actually did it that is only because Trump created the opportunity.

          @doh1304:

I think that Trump was pushed into this. While I detest

him, I also find it very curious that Pentagon as well as

Pompous *** retreated from any responsibility. Naturally

Trump would later on brag about this. Yet, unlike in

other instances, he did not tweet anything about this

          beforehand.

“unlike in other instances, he did not tweet anything about this beforehand.”

his son did.  & the dumpster reportedly bragged about it down at mar-a-lago during the holidays.

For the record my source was not some “conspiracy theory” – it was Dean Acheson. He bragged about it in his autobiography.

And Acheson must be telling the truth because? Lol, look how jaded I’ve become.

The buck stops with Trump. It doesn’t matter if he’s someone’s puppet, he’s the one with the power to manage the executive branch, and if he can’t do that, that’s still his failing.

And he’s not someone’s puppet. Look, Trump might not be the most informed dude in the world… but he’s not the dribbling idiot that Democrats like to pretend. Like this isn’t a dude who needs a bike helmet to go down stairs, right? He’s survived – and succeeded – in a cutthroat industry, jumped numerous scandals, and has shown himself to be very adept at maneuvering to get basically whatever the fuck he wants, politically. Donald Trump is not a stupid man, and he’s not being yanked around. His decisions are his decisions, and they all serve a purpose to see his ideology through.

I was wondering if John Bolton somehow was calling in urging Chump to do this. You know it was his wet dream to start a war with Iran. He probably got majorly aroused when he heard the news.
