The latest: The Minneapolis officer who was seen on video kneeling on the neck of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who died in custody after pleading that he could not breathe, was arrested Friday.
Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said state investigators arrested Derek Chauvin.
The arrest comes after three days of protests, which escalated in violence as demonstrators torched a police precinct that had been abandoned by officers.

Judge reviews evidence while firing squad waits for the certain guilty verdict and sentence. T’is a pity that won’t happen, but hopefully his arrest will give Floyd’s family and community some peace for awhile.

Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was charged with murder and manslaughter Friday in connection with the agonizing caught-on-video death of black man George Floyd.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced the charges after deafening calls for justice from Floyd’s relatives, their lawyers, countless protesters, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and officials around the country.
“He has been charged with third-degree murder. We are in the process of continuing to review the evidence. There may be subsequent charges later,” he said.
“I didn’t want to wait any longer to share the news,” Freeman said. “The investigation is ongoing. We felt it appropriate to focus on the most dangerous perpetrator. I must say this case has moved with extraordinary speed.”

So, what’s that? A slap on the wrist and lower pay? This guy had been warned 18 times in the past. Why was he even a cop?
And as for the rest, in any crime with a death as a result, aren’t the co-conspirators also charged? They kept anyone from helping.
If this shit doesn’t stop, the people will end it. Eventually…

The officer who deliberately kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and forty some seconds committed murder, deliberate, thought out murder. During those eight minutes, he had to realize that this could or perhaps would end in loss of life, yet he persisted.
George Floyd repeatedly said he couldn’t breathe, begged for it to stop, called out for his mother, lost control of his bladder, his nose bled. This is sustained torture. Let’s call it what it is, George Floyd was tortured to death.
The officers who stood by and did nothing to stop this are complicit. They could have ended it, but they joined in on kneeling on George’s back at one point.
None of these ‘officers’ are fit to see the light of day again for a very, very long time.

And the police chief should be fired. I’m not sure this is going to cut it – assuming there is a conviction, he wont do much time.
