Minnesota Public Radio: Sen. Al Franken will resign

A Democratic official who has spoken to Al Franken and key aides says Franken will resign his Minnesota Senate seat on Thursday, the official tells MPR News.

The official spoke to Franken and separately to Franken’s staff. A staff member told the official that Franken had gone to his Washington home to discuss his plans with family.

MPR News agreed to withhold the official’s name because the official wanted to give Franken the chance to talk about his decision in his own words.

Franken faced a cascade of calls Wednesday from fellow Democrats and other political allies to leave office in response to multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

Franken’s office said in a tweet that “no final decision had been made.” Full article here.

    1. A "cascade" of 10 conservative Dems call for Al to step down

while the results of any investigation are not in and Koch Brother’s owned (recently just bought in like the last month) Time, INC makes their “unbiased choice” hoping that any will not be able to separate out facts or issues while MN is thrown into the swamp to be eaten by fossil fuel and resources interests. This announcement courtesy of MPR  and made possible by their main funder, Exxon, Kochs and other fossil fuel and chemical Corporations.

    Just my version of course.

      2. Doesn't mean this story is inaccurate. I think Franken will resign. While I'd

rather see him lose in a primary to a real progressive because I’ve never liked the SOB, it looks like he will be gone.

NPR, National Petroleum Radio. You can hardly watch a PBS show anymore without seeing that it was made possible, in part, by the Koch Foundation, and maybe a few oil corporations besides. Yes, I’m well aware, and you make a valid point on that score.

    3. too bad

Franken has performed as a strong voice in the Senate. His bad behavior with women has cost him his career that adds to and reflects the ongoing chaos in Washington along with Trump World. We have now entered an era that will strain and possibly destroy lives of commoners in the US because of the insane leadership(s) that began at the turn of this century. That, my friends, is a reality check.
