When Biden was last in Europe, just weeks after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, his task was to pull together an uncertain alliance stunned by Vladimir Putin’s onslaught and heartened by Kyiv’s unexpected success in resisting it.

But now Biden heads back across the Atlantic for a pair of summits with a new assignment: to keep the continent committed to the cause as the invasion settles into a grueling, bloody battle of attrition that could last for many more months and cause continued global economic strain.

The war has begun to slip from international headlines. The president must convince other leaders, their economies battered by surging inflation, to keep funneling money and weapons to Ukraine instead of keeping them at home.

Some of his peers have been pummeled by scandal and defeat, their political standing weakened. And Biden himself has watched his poll numbers plummet as costs rise and a nation nervously awaits a Supreme Court decision that could roll back abortion rights and reshape the domestic landscape while he is overseas.

      IMO and all that.

"Sometimes when I try to understand a person's motives, I play a little game. I assume the worst. What's the worst reason they could possibly have for saying what they say and doing what they do? Then I ask myself, 'How well does that reason explain what they say and what they do?'" GRRM

But it will be interesting to see how Biden is received and how he performs.

And I didn’t know he was heading off to Europe – we’ll see if he has any extemporaneous remarks while he’s there.

months ago, because Russia is so inept.  Be interesting to see if Biden is met with less enthusiasm, although the western media would never tell us about that.

and have switched more and more to Telegram – though it’s rarely something I use directly. I try to find the authoritative source (well, more likely the facts 😉 ) given a lead from Telegram. It can be harder to do, as sources are rarely cited there.
