Republican Senators John Kennedy of Louisiana and Rand Paul of Kentucky have put holds on the legislation despite senators of both parties supporting it.
Paul wants special oversight of the money to prevent fraud. He is proposing an amendment to appoint a special inspector general to oversee the spending.
‘My sympathies are with Ukraine; I wish them luck, I want them to defeat the Russians, I want them to push the Russians out of their country. But we also have to be concerned with our country and with double-digit inflation here, this will make it worse,’ Paul told The Mark Reardon Show. ‘We can’t just shovel piles of money out the door and have nobody oversee it.’
GOP Senator John Thune of South Dakota told reporters on Capitol Hill: ‘I’m not allowing a speedy passage of the bill without having something fiscally responsible in the bill.’

It would be nice if Paul refused to budge but he will come around like they all eventually do.

I just heard on Breaking Points someone say that Congress is now basically just an arms dealer.
In the House no Democrats voted against the weapons deal. No debate. No discussion. Just a bunch of “Yea” votes. At least in the Senate Senator Rand Paul forced a discussion.

Good luck, Senator Paul! Ukraine has and is been known
for the most corrupt European country. My bet is that the
weapons and the money we sent/d there are already sold
on their black market.

What a weird situation. But best of luck to him. He is right – the Dems are not qualified to dictate what The Truth is. Neither is the GOP, but one step at a time.
The Ukraine really is nothing but a money-laundering operation now. The GOP may just be voting against the $40 billion because it is money spent, but it is money-laundering, just the same.
