LINCOLN — A key state senator called Wednesday for the Trump administration to reverse a decision labeling election systems as “critical infrastructure.”
State Sen. John Murante of Gretna said the designation could allow federal intervention in Nebraska’s election system, violating state sovereignty and increasing security risks.
“The designation represents a drastic federal overreach into our elections,” he said. “The (U.S.) Constitution explicitly grants authority to conduct elections to the states.”
Murante said he sent a letter Tuesday to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, with copies to the president, vice president and members of the state’s congressional delegation."P.S. please if you get a chanse put some flowrs on Algernons grave in the bak yard.": Flowers for Algernon
