• Update on weirdness

Update on site issues: (1. replies now need a title *and* something in the message box, 2. certain links are causing strange pop-ups on Apple devices, and 3. Some folks can't type anything into the text box.) Basically, a series of unfortunate events set us back on testing. We'll get to it as soon as we can, and hopefully things can get fixed by this weekend if not before.  More info: https://jackpineradicals.com/boards/topic/site-problems-more-info/

    NEW MEMBERS CHECK-IN THREAD #5

    Welcome to JackPineRadicals.

We are a site dedicated to progressive people and progressive ideals.

Please come and join us for fun, discerning and informative conversation. You can rest assured that your individual take on things will be appreciated.

I would suggest that you familiarize yourself with the minimal rules we have here on JackPineRadicals before you start posting. They are found in About JackPineRadicals and Community Standards & Guidelines. Links to both are on the bottom of every page should you need them later.

There is a pretty vast amount of information regarding things such as posting pictures and individualizing your avatar and signature in Help & Q&A. This informative thread is linked in your left hand navigation area under Main Forums.

We have had some trolls and others disrupting conversations lately, so we are asking all members to become familiar with the rules and report anything that they think need be addressed.

If you would like to introduce yourself to the community, post a reply on this thread.

If you are coming to us from another site, it would help us if you would put your other name(s) in your signature for a little while. You might find some old friends here that way.

And thanks for joining our merry little band.

Hi I live in North Dakota, please don’t hold it against me. It’s not quite as red here in the eastern part of the state.  Was a member at the other place for many years and didn’t post much, left very shortly after they fully supported herself.  I have been lurking here since until finally joining recently. I supported Bernie and caucused for him and am in alignment with his values.

        2. Welcome to JPR

I like your tag. Very nice. I don’t think anyone will care one way or the other that you’re from North Dakota, and in fact may want to know if you know anything about the DAPL that we aren’t getting via news.

Seriously, there’s a lot of cool people here and we welcome you to our site.

        4. Welcome to JPR.

It is way superior to Site Voldemort. You’re not allowed to use what you used. It’s in the rules. No direct reference to ‘that other place’. So be careful from here on, or any post having said direct reference will ‘disappear’ into the void as it were.

You might see SV used. That’s what it means. I had one of my very first posts trashed because I not only named the nameless, I named the guy running it. Way bad.

Come and have some interesting and valuable discussions with good old fashioned liberals. And have some fun as well. We have a fairly large selection of specialty topic forums if you’re interested.

      17. Blocked, banned, and banished on D…U….…

The powers that be there don’t seem to understand the meaning of the word “underground.”  They turned the site into a purity test that brooked no dissent.

I had been posting there since 2001, having found the site through the late great Bartcop.  I contributed money, posted under one identity more than 12,000 times and yet was summarily drawn and quartered for some politically correct comments.  (Almost exclusively as a humorous mocking of Republicans and right wingers.)

Oh yeah, and I kept saying that Bernie was better and Hillary was too Wall Street with negative ratings that were sky high. That nailed my coffin shut.

            38. The meltdown was epic.

It was a little depressing too.  Reddit’s /r/politics was eerily quiet for a few days.  But they’re all out of their funk now, back to hating Bernie and blaming teenagers for Trump.

I know DU still actually has a big progressive population (I got a lot of good PMs from all over) that tends to stay quiet to avoid the rampant jury system abuse.  One of my posts had over 100 recs mostly from people who rarely or never post.  The jerks just seem predominant because they post obsessively and can silence their opponents.  But I’ll admit it was amusing to see those same jerks eating crow and pretending it was  T-bone.

I’m no democrat either.  I was trying to be one because of Bernie, but I got tired of being insulted every time I wasn’t being ignored.  I’ll just focus on activism and specific issues and simply ignore the democrats until the party pulls its head out of its ass.  As of the 20th they’re no more powerful than the greens, and the greens are actually nice.

      27. Hi JPR's!

I am ZimInSeattle at C99% and also Steemit. Major Bernie supporter where I went $600 over max. Even though the primary was stolen, I believe the money was well spent exposing the Democratic Party for the corrupt rotten hulk it has become. After the purge at DKos, I #DemExited. Recently found out I have been shadow banned at the Seattle Times and any website that uses the FaceBook commenting plugin, like Huffington Post and ESPN. It seems only I have been able to see my comments for a year and half at least. No one will tell me why. So I’m thinking it’s because I was a Bernie supporter pushing back on all the BS out there like ‘the Russians did it’. Glad to have found this place through the good folks at C99%.

        29. Interesting about the shadow ban

I wonder if I have that at the Huff Post, too.

I loved calling out their paid posters…and after August, when they went full blown Hillbot Land, I stopped going there for ..you know…actual news.

But once in awhile I will go and see an article and post my opposition…but I turned off notifications from that site, so who knows if I was just talking to myself.

        Oh….Welcome..LOL

          34. Shadow banning is very deceptive.

They let you think you are part of the discourse when actually you are not. I noticed that my comments would never get any ‘likes’. So to test, I posted a comment then went to a different computer that wasn’t signed into my FaceBook account, and the comment wasn’t there. Same thing at the Seattle Times. Canceling our subscription there.

          36. Mentioning other sites is not allowed? That there's a red flag for me.

So I can’t post an essay here and say I cross posted at another site? If that’s the case, I probably won’t be around here that often. Doesn’t seem like that’s an issue at other progressive blogging sites.

The rule is that you can’t post when the sole purpose is to rant about things elsewhere, or link to things elsewhere to callout members of another site.

Otherwise, you’re welcome to post just about anything you want

        190. I'm a little late here, but I didn't realize so many places used FaceBook

for comments elsewhere, and that getting banned one place would thus get you banned everywhere that used it.

In the olden days the equivalent would be some kind of free speech issue — except the internet is ‘private,’ so it wouldn’t apply.

But it’s turning into todays equivalent of the ‘commons’ — except its private and there is no real commons.

      31. Hey there

I am from Minneapolis. I campaigned for Bernie Sanders because I truly believe in his message and values. Previously, I campaigned for President Obama. After this ugly election, I am just trying to come to terms with the unknown. There is an enemy in our midst. Officially in January. But I’m still reeling from going from the intelligent and compassionate President Obama to a ridiculous asshat. So I find myself coming here looking to enjoy some good discussion and celebrate unity and diversity.

      40. I found JackPineRadicals in a thread at DU

Of course, it was a very dismissive comment, because, you know, you have to worship the Clintons there and anyone else that wants to build a stronger Democratic Party with BETTER Democrats is not welcome.  Don’t even get me started on DK, my profile has a few links and facts about his background, including:

      1.  He is not a democrat — he just couldn’t become a big important person as a republican, so he started DK and the record now clearly shows his site is detrimental to progressive politics.
      2. He is credibly reported to have been CIA, but only admits military service.  Remember, once in that lodge, you are always CIA
      3. No one is more profane, irrational, and full-of-himself as an Internet rock star than Markos Moulitsas.  But hey! He’s a big Clinton fan and even picked up a gig with her (NOTE:  There was no need to bribe him, as KOS exists to move the Democratic Party to the right and towards Wall Street.

I have seen DK used on a few other comments, so used it.  A few times, I have referred to an evil orange site.  Soon, I will have no reason to mention it in any way at all and the sooner that happens, the better.  I am deeply disturbed that a 2016 Clinton operative ran a banner graphic of Clinton’s 96% probability for victory daily for weeks and should have been an advocate for campaigning in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.  Massive fail — a feature or glitch?

Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, Argh! Snake, a snake! Snaaake! A snaaaake, oooh its a snake!

            43. Feature or a glitch? I don't know. But stupidity comes to mind.

Clinton’s campaign was stupidly arrogant throughout, and it just got worse after she “won” the primary. DK probably means Daily Kos, BTW. I have forgotten what SV stands for.

To be fair about the campaign, I thought Clinton would win the general for sure. I, like many others, went by the polls even when I should have known better than to trust “likely voter” polls this year, so I can be guilty of stupidity as well. Every once in awhile, anyway; I’m only human. To be fair about the polls, when you incorporate the margin of error they were mostly right, after all. It’s just that the error broke against Clinton–I had no idea so many voters despised her as much as I did.

This came as a very unpleasant surprise to people who truly deserved to be unpleasantly surprised, as I’m sure you witnessed.

      Hello everyone

I am not really an american, as I live in Norway but have been following US politics for a long time, and I bumbed over this site from another site I also have been on for some years. Registered here, and it looks like a progressive place who I suspect the US would need in the insanity who will be the “norm” the 4 next year…

And by the way – was and is a big fan of Bernie Sanders – what could have been….

        49. Diclotican, couple of years ago you posted your experience with health care.

I remember it and looked it up in your journal.  I wish you would repost or rewrite it here.  It was quite an experience and cost you little or nothing.

I wish we could get a better health care system here, but too many politicians are paid off by big money.  I doubt we will.

Too many real Americans think that America is the act’s meow and never get a chance to see coparitive models of governance. I look forward to your perspectives.

Used to be Ghost Dog. Long time observing the Beast and the World in English, Spanish, French. From UK Yorkshire & West Country escaped from London 1987 to Barcelona & Canary Islands for saner society, better life.

In the context of the fast-approaching socio-economic and therefore political consequences of anthropogenic climate and therefore biospheric- and human-geography change I feel far from optimistic as regards the near- and mid-term futures for all people, but not pessimistic as regards long-term outcomes for eventually-surviving humans and the biosphere or Gaia as a whole… But first, Hellmouth:

I assume that all of our Council meetings follow Robert Rules of Order for debate/discussion… Does it follow that all meetings must allow for new business/discussion… If so can these points be out maneuvered(tabled) to a point of being rendered mute… I know this is a somewhat vague question but there is a final point that I hope to achieve….

            66. I'm with Tiamat,

Every city council I’ve ever attended had their own procedures. Most only allowed new business if it was requested before the meeting, and if someone wanted to open a new business discussion it was placed on the agenda for the next meeting.

      69. Whoa late to the game …

I usually follow instructions quite well but posted a couple times before posting to this thread. I lurked for a while and really enjoy the info and dialogue here. I consider myself a full time progressive but part time interweb denizen. I check in a few times a week and will post when I can add value, but am amazed at the dedication and contribution many folks make here. I work way too much which is not an excuse because I actually enjoy my work. I am type-A extrovert at work but proud introvert in my personal life. I recently celebrated my 50th bday and not surprisingly discovered (largely by pee, poo, and barf stains throughout my house) that I apparently care for animals more than humans. However, I invest a lot of time in local charities mostly focused on disadvantaged kids.

I live in MN (Go Betty) and actually have RSAD (Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder). I love winter. I do not dislike summer but I do love XC skiing and snowshoeing. My vegetable garden grows larger every year which keeps me very busy, and I am getting much better with flowers and other flora on my little patch of dirt.

I have had a difficult time shrugging off personal sadness in the past month or so. Not depression, I am a happy optimist, but sad about where “we” are right now, especially with close liberal friends who jumped the shark with Turd Way. My optimism hopes that their (sad and shocking) poutrage and gullibility accelerates their and other people’s evolution to progressivism. I really hope that the Russia Hack, Golden Shower, and other nonsense stories push otherwise sane people to Our Revolution. I do not waste much time trying to debate Turd Wayers, but I believe there is deep hunger for the ideals in Our Revolution among many independent moderates. It is my opinion that it is those independent moderates that we need to convert to win both short and long term.

I like Our Revolution because it enables me to improve my focus on what I already practice, local leaders. Since I have minimal impact on the Federal level, I try to invest my thoughts and time on City, County, and State leaders. However, I must say that it was fun to attend Michelle Bachmann events and torture her staff and bigots when I had the chance. While it made me feel good, it did not do much to help progressives.

Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks for reading.

Big Bernie supporter, first candidate I ever actually gave money to in my life

I’m so happy to see him leading the charge against Trump and his cohorts

Tired of hearing the excuses for why Hillary lost, I saw it coming from a mile away, and I’m still stinging over their treatment of Bernie

I was furious at Bernie for casting his support to her, but I’m getting over it more and more every time I hear his inspired voice

The reluctance of Clinton supporters to move past the election is really bothering me

I don’t think they leaned their lesson from this election cycle and that is very disturbing

      Glad I found this place

I ran into stalkers who followed me around as part of their purging and purification effort.  Unfortunate because most of them are pretty cool.  But the purifiers are winnowing the ranks, which should be good for this site.

      104. Not new – was on the dot org – had health issues -now finally on the dot com yay

and many (some) of you may remember me from the shit pond other place where I was also known as “slay” with over 10,000 posts before they gave me the ol’ heave-ho (place is 90% Hillary-bots these days anyways from what I can tell – and their Alexa rankings are sinking like a stone – well deserved since the owner and his wife used to work for The (DLC) Clintons – but enough of that).    Looking forward to getting back into the fight for true progress and true progressive values – as well as supporting great progressives like my man Bernie – the person we ALL know SHOULD be President right now!

I first joined JPR the week yall started I think – was when the shit about Manny went down over there – that was the last straw for me.  As far as me – for fun I do computer stuff like Wii-U emulation, play a massively popular MMO that only came out in Japan called Phantasy Star Online 2 (i’m “slay” on there as well so stop by and say hi if you also play!) which some awesome fans have translated into English for us – as well as Diablo 3.   I also like hiking, good sci-fi and horror, documentaries, and have been a HUGEEEE Bernie fan for years ever since Ed Shultz used to have him on his show.  Nice to be back.  :)

            113. Well, yeh I answer to both. Gator state is about right.

There’s 2 kinds of gators,  the ones in Gaineville at the Swamp and the ones actually in swamps.  My family are longtime FL Gator fans, avoid the other ones completely.  Well, not exactly true.  One about 10 feet long came walking down our sidewalk one night.  We called the police because they love little dogs and lots of them in our neighborhood.  I swear the whole police force came to see the gator strolling and kept the neighbors up for hours while the gator patrol was coming to get it.   You would think they’d never seen one up close.

      118. Want to be honest

I may not be a perfect fit here, but I believe everyone has a right to speak. Seeing as how I just got flagged for review at the site that dare not speak its name after being alert stalked, I thought I’d come over here and get a couple of things off of my chest. By way of introduction, I am going to paste in a couple of old posts. The first (this one) was meant to be a call to resistance by any means necessary but ended up getting construed as a biography so I thought it would let you all know who I am as a person in terms of background. The second is where I am at vis a vis our hijacked party (the next one) Here it goes:

“Last night I told you about a friend of mine whose tire was shot out as he was driving down the highway through Trumpland (rural Ohio). Last night I thought about him. I thought about why. I thought about what was going to be done. Most of all, I thought about his kid in high school.

I’ve posted a little about my past and now I think I should fill in the blanks because to know where I am now you have to know where I came from. At 18, I left Sunnyside (Houston) to move to Oakland to join the Panthers. I walked those streets with a cut-down 870 in my hands and not an ounce of fear. There were no Michael Browns lying in our streets and no one was getting their tire shot out. You may say what you wish about us, but those were the facts. After a handful of dumb asses decided they were bigger than us and they’d just take off on their own and attack the cops head on, we pretty much had to split up. Thanks to the two exceptional human beings who were my parents, I ended up in Paris getting a fancy undergraduate education in what was then the most religiously, ethnically and culturally diverse educational environment in the world but also following Eldridge Cleaver. When he left, I became involved in what we call now global social justice and far left politics. After I got my degree, I joined a lay Catholic missionary group called the Maryknolls and moved to Guatemala to spread something many of us know about from our churches here, liberation theology. There, what was a religious belief in the inherent “goodness” of socialism as a tool to restore equality was cooked in a stew of whole families being murdered by US-trained right wingers and I picked up a gun for the second time and moved into the jungle. It wasn’t to protest and we did not. We did what was necessary.

I probably should have died there, but then again I probably should have died before my 18th birthday or when I was with the Panthers. In any event, it was the looming death of my father that brought me back to the United States. It was because of his faith and hope, the faith and hope my mom and he shared with people like Dr. King, that I stayed, broke down every gun I owned, gave away every bullet, dressed for the part and went to law school.

Over the last 30, now almost 40, years the arc for me has bent toward justice. I have been fortunate enough to be able to take massive amounts of money out of the hands of the masters and turned it over to their victims. I may have not been able to stop them from lynching us on gurney-trees, but I have made them spend millions on the rope. Despite the undeniably continuing injustice, I have believed in the direction of the arc.

Let me return to yesterday. The ******* cops who “investigated” that attempted murder wanted to know first why my friend was there. They wanted to see all of his rental car documents. They searched his car for a gun. They told him that there was no way these would-be murderers would ever be caught. Last week that pile of human excrement who sits in the White House announced that white right wing terrorism would no longer be a priority of the DHS. The groups to which these shooters undoubtedly belonged were not the “threat” that Obama and his anti-white Justice Department (should I put a “sarcasm” smilie in here, or is it pretty obvious?) claimed. He defended the “right” of Richard Spencer to whip up these racists and that POS Milo to intentionally destroy the lives of undocumented non-citizens, invoking the First Amendment as if it was without limits. Sadly, dozens of others joined him. That’s fine for them, their privilege makes Spencer’s and Milo’s dog whistles to violence nothing but “objectionable speech” in the worlds of them and their friends.

They are not “just words” for my friend, for me, for the people who look like me. They are not “just words” when his child is the next black person driving the car down the highway. Trump’s free pass for white supremacists is not just a policy we can point to in the next election and say “Vote Democrat.” It is a license for them to kill us.

As I said before, I have spent a large part of almost 4 decades litigating the scope of self-defense. From today forward, every time I talk to a group of young people, I will not talk about an arc which now bends toward the chains of slavery. I will not talk about the luxury of claiming that hate speech is “free speech.” There are plenty o people out there to do that already. Instead, I will pass along what I know about their God-given and LEGAL right not to have their child end up rolled over in a ditch at the edge of an Ohio road, or, for that matter, laid out lifeless on a Missouri street.

As for me, I will defend myself and the ones I love to the full extent that the law allows.

      This shit just got real.”

      119. The second one

This is the post that started the stalking:

Gil Toy, sycophant, author of “The Age of Clinton,” and fodder for the “We have lost our way” argument.

I had promised myself to follow the lead of the irrepressible (and yet usually inspiring) Bravenak and eschew further comment on the Bernie supporter vs. Hillary supporter hate fest. This idolatry of Bill Clinton’s worst policies, however, is beyond the pale. Allow me to address each specific point upon which Mr. Toy offered praise for policies which hurt America and politics which hurt the Democratic Party. (I am skipping over his fawning “President Clinton shrewdly led from the center, forging a Third Way progressivism more balanced than the big-government, special interest group-oriented liberalism which Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush handily defeated in the 1980s.” comment.)

Warning: This is long, but so is the TRIPE at the link in the OP

      First point:

“Clintonite centrism embraced free trade as bringing prosperity not exporting jobs.”

While it is no doubt true that Bill Clinton peddled free trade (e.g., NAFTA) as “bringing prosperity” and not “exporting jobs” the legacy of Clinton-era “free trade” is that the only “prosperity” it produced was for the less than 1% of Americans (and the wealthy in other countries). Yes, the stock market exploded as BIG BUSINESS (bolstered by opening markets – i.e., increased demand – and depressed labor costs) raked in record profits. Those for whom the financial sector was their primary source of income (we know them as “Wall Street”) “prospered” out the yin yang. American manufacturing jobs, however, vanished and the ones that remained saw major wage and benefit concessions in the face of job exportation to countries with low wages (oh, FYI for those people who try to blame the bulk of the loss of American manufacturing jobs on automation >>> NOT to countries with “the best robots”). In countries like Mexico, the maquiladoras, once inhabited by multiple thousands of people making (admittedly, just) enough to live on, turned into places where the relatively few number of factory workers did indeed multiply their annual incomes many times OVER (and yet no where near American wages and without American health and safety protections), but EVERYONE ELSE faced a radically inflated cost of living that left them no longer able to survive living their traditional way of life but yet not reaping the wage rewards which had inured to the factory workers. Does Mr. Toy want to talk about what happened in Latin America when (looking across the whole of Latin America) MILLIONS of people were no longer able to survive and only thousands had new manufacturing jobs? The thousands who died at the hands of corporately-controlled Latin American governments when they tried to rise up against starvation AND who died as a consequence of the “replacement economy” (criminal enterprises, including drug trafficking) which provided the only alternative to starvation in nations where their indigenous economies had been destroyed, are almost as thankful for the “prosperity” brought by “Clintonite” (Toy’s term, not mine) free trade as former American factory workers are for their nice shiny no benefit job in the service industry. But heck, the stock market boomed, so Toy thinks we should bow down before Bill.

      Second point:

“Clinton fought crime, framing it as threat to all Americans, especially blacks.”

Fought crime because it ‘threatened blacks’???????????????? By doing WHAT? By criminalizing the natural consequences of the racist abandonment of our urban centers? By sending drug defendants to federal prison for decades? By stripping tens of thousand of young black men out of the workforce? By politically disenfranchising them (It’s a byproduct of a felony conviction in most states. You knew that Gil, right?) and stripping thousands of votes out of urban communities? And what happened to crime: in 1982, when Bill took office, Chicago had 668 murders. In 1990, when he left, it had 851. Yea Mr. Toy, we should duplicate what Bill did . . . NOT A CHANCE. We needed federal capital to replace the racist rich folks who left us behind, Bill sent us federal COPS.

      Third point:

“With no one explaining . . . how dysfunctional the welfare system was, how two-thirds of blacks supported initiatives, Clintons legislation seemed draconian”

Should we start with the subtle racism of claiming that the fact that “two-thirds of blacks” supported welfare reform somehow proved it wasn’t “draconian?” Newsflash Mr. Toy, “two-thirds of blacks” weren’t hurt by welfare reform because WE AREN’T THE MF’S ON WELFARE. Because I have represented hundred of people from impoverished AA communities over the last three decades AND because I grew up in one (Sunnyside), I’ll give you a little clue, the “welfare reform” that appealed so much to the suburban whites (yea, even more than “two-thirds”) that the YOU want the party to target, brought nothing but despair to the vast majority of people it did affect and drained even more capital from our urban centers.

As disgusting as Mr. Toy’s praise for Bill Clinton’s three most anti-core-traditional-Democratic-constituency policies may be, his simultaneous attack on Hillary AND Bernie is even more so.

      Bernie trashing:

Bernie is attacked for “pulling Hillary to the left” (and called this year’s Nader, but more about that later). Toy disparagingly claims:

“As an independent, Sanders lacked such loyalty. His hip campaign addressed the displaced and disempowered” (The irony of this accusation is hard to miss . . . Bernie is normally attacked for NOT appealing to the “displaced and disempowered)

      Hillary trashing:

The REAL insults, however, are toward Hillary who Toy accuses of being “enfeebled” by Sanders (sexist much there Mr. Toy?) and who he attacks for “desperately appealing to different special interests” AND who he chides because “Characteristically, after winning Super Tuesday, she declared: ‘We have to defend all our rightsworkers rights, and womens rights, civil rights and voting rights, LGBT rights and rights for people with disabilities.'”

When Hillary made that statement, it was NOT because she was “enfeebled” by Bernie Sanders. It was NOT because she was weak. It was because Hillary Clinton STRONGLY and PROUDLY stood up for OUR PEOPLE AND OUR PARTY.

Mr. Toy can talk about how we have to get back to “Bill” all he wants, but the fact of the matter is that Hillary Clinton was ten times the Democrat that Bill Clinton will ever be and ten times the better person.

One final little point (a personal one) . . . obviously if Nader voters would have all voted for Gore, Gore would have taken Florida. Because of this, people like Mr. Toy who want this party to run AGAINST our core constituencies blame “liberals” for 2000.

There was something else though that could have changed the result in Florida as well, something that Mr. Toy and others like him don’t want to talk about. The conventional wisdom is that Gore lost by hundreds, not thousands, of votes. Prior to the 2000 election, Florida used ChoicePoint to purge thousands and thousands of mostly black convicted felons from Florida voter rolls. I was among a number of attorneys who were contacted by these men to try to get them back on the rolls before the election. Because they were poor, because they were powerless, and because they were, after all, felons, it became clear that this effort was going to require both financial help and mainstream support from the national party. They were turned away. People like Mr. Toy told us that there was no way that, after Willie Horton, the Democratic Party was going to make it possible for Republicans to make a black convicted felon the image of the party.

Yes, we could have won if Nader voters had just got over the fact that Gore had selected the traitorous-to-our-party right-wing Joe Lieberman as a running mate and got in line but we could have ALSO WON if the Gil Toy’s in the Party had the courage to stand up for the most powerless of Democratic constituencies the same way Hillary did in her “characteristic” post-convention statement.

Maybe it would have helped if Hillary could have done some things different, but that is pure speculation. FOR SURE it would have helped if we didn’t get rf’d by everyone from the FBI to Putin AND if Republicans hadn’t used CrossCheck to do exactly what they did in Florida in 2000. What wouldn’t have helped is to go back to sacrificing “workers rights, and womens rights, civil rights and voting rights, LGBT rights and rights for people with disabilities” on the altar of placating white suburbanites who want to see “criminals” locked up forever and people receiving welfare forced to live on the streets.

Mr. Toy, I do not believe in the least that Hillary Clinton is anything near to being “the same as a Republican.”

      You sir, however, ARE.

The democratic left is lost, we are in complete disarray.  When people are saying *why don’t* or* why didn’t*  their party do XYZ it underscores their lack of comprehension of the situation at hand.  Until that is corrected nothing will change.

They can be no *taking over* until their is a thorough comprehension of WTF is going on.  And clearly, the gas lighting has rendered the left incoherent and confused as to who what and why we are disenfranchised.

But yeah, it would be nice to be in the drivers seat!

              Thx again ;~)

      135. Hello from NC

Hello all, I kept hearing people over on the other site yelling about this one, so felt an obligation to check it out. I’m not in any disputes with the site or site owner (to my knowledge) but I’m also an unapologetic Bernie supporter, and there are times when I just need to be away from the Bernie bashing and Democratic conservatives without feeling like I need to walk on super-fragile eggshells. Anyway, from reading the posts here for a while, people don’t seem nearly as “evil” as I’d been led to expect. :)

      151. I'm here from another world.

For some reason I was under the illusion it was a place for progressives like myself. Then the primaries happened. To say things got ugly is an understatement. My core values (i.e. rejecting unnecessary war and promoting economic justice) were reduced to childish fantasies of a woman hating, basement dweller who doesn’t understand the value of public and private positions of political candidates and endless military conflict on foreign soil as a natural state of being.

After several hidden posts which no sane person would consider alert worthy I left. Maybe this place will be a better fit.

Hello radicals. Greetings from northern virginia, just a few miles outside our nation’s (esteemed?) captial. I am a single mother and also a restaurant manager (feels like I have 17 kids), so unfortunately I do no find a lot of free time to write or participate, but I am attempting to make the time for activism in my life for the sake of my son (and ultimately everyone’s children).

Most of my life I have been jaded and cynical towards politics in general… and have only recently realized that I need to get off my a$$ and do something about “changing” things instead of accepting the bs we’ve been forced to eat. I’ve had my fill.

I genuinely hope that together with like minds I may be able to help our country grow in a more positive direction for us all in the future.

Hi all, My first time posting and as I said in the heading, Pinebox sent me to this wonderful place.  A bit about myself and hope I will be a good fit. I’m just a normal guy who is running for U.S. Congress against an incumbent multimillionaire corporate owned Republican . I’m running a grassroots campaign in a very poor District in Maine, District 02, Which encompasses about 9/10th of the State. I’m running with Bernies Platform, Medicareforall, pre-paid college, pre-pain trade schools, End Citizens United, Climate Change, Equal Rights for everyone, Etc. Etc. I can’t remember about links, but here is one to my campaign website…. http://phil82961.wixsite.com/cleavesforcongress ….  It’s still in progress because 1.) no idea how to make one  lol 2.) I’m the only person I can afford to pay at the moment. I know the Dem Establishment will be coming after me soon so I’m trying to get myself more Recognition and may get some donations to fend off the Establishment. I want to thank Pinebox for letting me know about you’re place and to thank you all for having me over for Suppah (Remember, I’m from Maine, it’s how we talk and type  lol )  Thanks Again

I think you will find a little bit of just about everything Bernie here, so please come on in and start educating us on your run for Congress. Most may really appreciate an inside view of what is wrong and what is right about America.

And watch out for a shifty character calls hissself @deadpool. Shifty shifty shifty.

      Hi,

I am happy to join up with this progressive group.  I am running for Congress in the Sixth District of Michigan and I would like to share my ideas and get your input on how to better implement a bold, progressive agenda in a largely rural and conservative district.

        200. Hi David, and welcome to JPR.

I’ll have your interview up as soon as I can get that lazy deadbeat @deadpool to get his act together and get it up so the members can meet you in person as it were. It was very nice of you to take the time out for the interview and I’d like to thank you personally for the opportunity.

        202. Hey David

        Welcome!

If you remember, the camera decided to die during your interview. Half is uploaded and half is on its way to our @deadpool.

My guess is it will be up by tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

It was a pleasure speaking with you at the Summit. We’ll get you JackpineRadicals Act Blue For David Benac soon.

        When is the election?

        203. Welcome David… I went to high school in Michigan many years back…

…. about the time that the TV was full of impeachment hearings for the last Republican president that was in big trouble of being pushed out of office then.

Wen to high school in Williamston near the Lansing area where my dad was a professor at MSU then.  Used to drive through your district a lot when I went to college at Univ. of Iowa driving back home from break, etc.

You are now in the 2018 candidates list.

        209. Come on in, the water's fine.

You should watch out for that @deadpool dude though. He’s shifty.

But he has the ultimate fun thread every day called Daily Trivia in the Daily Posts Forum.

You’ll meet a lot of really cool people there.
