    NYT: Judd Apatow is correct:

Maureen Dowd interviewed Judd Apatow, director of Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin regarding Trump. It was the typical tripe on how bad Trump is, but this particular portion of the column spoke volumes:

Apatow concedes that “clearly Hillary Clinton made a few enormous mistakes. One of those mistakes, to me, was that you can’t get paid that much for speeches and go back into politics. That has to be your victory lap — you cash in, you do the speeches and you’re done.”

Here’s the rest of the story if you want to read it.

    1. I have to disagree. I believe that Hillary got that kind of money for speeches

predicated on the “sure thing” that she would be president and  do favors for the people who gave her that money.  I don’t think that big money was for speeches, but was for campaign contributions and quid pro quo – just like money given to the “charity”.    Hillary has been running for president for a very long time, and those speeches were just another part of her campaign – the “private” part.

You think the only reason that people won't vote for a warmongering Third Way fracking-enabling cluster bomb throwing H-1B increasing lying pandering corporate and Wall Street shill who says she has no problem putting abortion rights on the table is because we are mad about Bernie?  Um, nope.

      2. That's exactly it. And …

…. your assessment = Apatow’s statement that that’s a big reason she lost. Most reasonable people would agree that she gave the speeches as an insider who was promising favorable treatment from her WH in exchange for $$, when really, what the paid speeches should be, are, as he calls it, the ‘victory lap’ once one has left the political arena.

        3. One of the things that amazes me is how people – and the DNC and the Hillbots –

think that they can point to this thing or that thing as reasons Hillary lost.  For me, I was never going to vote for her, from the day she declared, because of her record as Hillary Clinton, with side helpings of Bill Clinton and the Third Way and the MIC and Foundation stuff like Haiti, and the lies and pandering.  There could never have been any ameliorating reasons to vote for her.

Sort of like the lunacy of deciding to swim with a great white shark because that shark has nicer looking fins than the other sharks, or whiter teeth, or is a lady shark, or is more delicate when ripping a seal to shreds. Or because that shark just swam right by you a couple of times before, without tearing your leg off.    It is a fucking shark.  It will, sooner or later,  kill you and eat you.  That’s all you need to know.  That story about the scorpion hitching a ride across a river and killing its ride halfway across applies, also.  The scorpion is a scorpion, and we all should know that when we offer it a ride or a chance to rule.

You think the only reason that people won't vote for a warmongering Third Way fracking-enabling cluster bomb throwing H-1B increasing lying pandering corporate and Wall Street shill who says she has no problem putting abortion rights on the table is because we are mad about Bernie?  Um, nope.

          4. I always knew she was a shark.

          Glad you re confirming it.

Some David Ickes follower actually had a video up of her (as a person) going into “lizard person” mode and sticking out a long reptilian tongue. But it makes much more sense that when the clock strikes midnight, she has to be inside a large tub full of water, EATING CHUM.

        5. I agree with you.

        “That’s what they offered!”

Most retired politicians are paid to give speeches because some people genuinely like them!

I can say Bill Clinton was interesting to listen to once upon a time.

But with Hillary it must have been about forward looking influence.
