I believe the first is a big fancy shopping center in the center; it must have backup generators.

The second is Passage, a famous old shopping area, very beautiful and also downtown.

That’s the Motherland monument, and yes, it really is that huge.

That last photo is another example of all the effing cars polluting the world. I’ve noticed that in the movies and TV shows I watch, scene transitions are frequently done with aerials of the cities where the action is taking place—wall to wall cars. My Apple TV screen saver has beautiful aerials of Dubai—wall to wall cars. In the middle of the damned desert.

But back to the topic. Putin knows how to bring his adversary to its knees—knock out the power grid. No need for nukes.

        those with good public transportation.

I liked the trains in Ukraine, the streetcars in Odessa and the Metro and high speed rail in Russia.

It’s just been a question of how much destruction and death Joey, BoJo (and whoever) and Zelensky were willing to inflict on the Ukrainian people.

It’s still looking like to the last Ukrainian in Ukraine (have to add “in Ukraine” now as so many are refugees from Joey’s war of choice).

How long did it take for Milosevic to be forced out of office by the Serbian population after NATO bombed out their power generators? A couple of months?

If the Russians don’t come for Zelensky his own citizens might. Having no electricity for weeks tends to make people who have never lived without it real ornery. It worked for the Americans against the Serbs. Why not for the Russians against the Ukrainians? These are Europeans we’re talking about, not Afghan mountain tribes.

I’ve said before that Putin was a pussycat waging war compared to the Americans. Now a glove has come off and the Kremlin has taken a page right out of the American military playbook. They don’t even have to change the red, white and blue wrapper since their flag’s the same colors.

Like Belgrade, Kiev will stay dark until its government folds.
