Our Revolution hosts town hall despite Graves’ absence

St. Joseph joined several cities across the country Thursday evening, holding a town hall to voice concerns on national issues to representatives. But one thing was missing — a representative.
A local progressive group, called Our Revolution, held the town hall and made efforts to get Congressman Sam Graves, who represents the 6th District of Missouri, or one of his surrogates to attend. Group members said Graves told them he was not in the state of Missouri during Congress’ recess, even though many representatives are in their districts during this time. In his absence, the group attached a picture of his face to a yard stick, and went ahead with the town hall.
Co-founder of Our Revolution, Derek Evans, said he figured Graves and his office would respond this way.
“It’s basically been silent from the entire office, no recognition of us and what we’re doing, no recognition that there are people in St. Joseph have concerns and issues that they want to share,” said Evans….
