Sen. Bernie Sanders’ recent surge in national and early-state polls, enthusiastic progressive base, and resilience in the aftermath of his heart attack have reportedlyforced some within the Democratic establishment who were previously dismissive of the Vermont senator to concede—both in private and in public—that he could ultimately run away with the party’s presidential nomination.

“For months the Vermont senator was written off by Democratic Party insiders as a candidate with a committed but ultimately narrow base who was too far left to win the primary,” Politico reported Thursday. “But in the past few weeks, something has changed. In private conversations and on social media, Democratic officials, political operatives, and pundits are reconsidering Sanders’ chances.”

David Brock, a Democratic operative and long-time ally of Hillary Clinton who earlier this yeardiscussed launching an “anti-Sanders campaign,” told Politico that Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden have “both proven to be very resilient.”

“It may have been inevitable that eventually you would have two candidates representing each side of the ideological divide in the party,” Brock added. “A lot of smart people I’ve talked to lately think there’s a very good chance those two end up being Biden and Sanders.”

“Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden have “both proven to be very resilient.”

‘Bernie and Biden have been very resilient..’?

One has 70%+ commitment within rising poll numbers, the other has 58% commitment from poll numbers dropping, which have to be unengaged sleepers who have missed the word-salad-wonders of Uncle Joe’s debate performances.

Not sure about the ‘democratic’ party, but the media feels forced.  They would really prefer not to accept Bernie as a contender, but if they want to retain any influence on events they have to be seen as at least being rational.  That means acknowledging reality,  no matter how unwillingly.

When the going gets tough, the tough help each other.

Some are just realizing their endless anti-Bernie crap isn’t working any more.

All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.
