Update on site issues: (1. replies now need a title *and* something in the message box, 2. certain links are causing strange pop-ups on Apple devices, and 3. Some folks can't type anything into the text box.) Basically, a series of unfortunate events set us back on testing. We'll get to it as soon as we can, and hopefully things can get fixed by this weekend if not before.  More info: https://jackpineradicals.com/boards/topic/site-problems-more-info/

Pipeline protests turn south: Floridians oppose new $3 billion pipeline

    http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/pipeline-protests-turn-south-floridians-oppose-new-3-billion-pipeline/70000497

Another pipeline protest has flared up in the United States, but in Florida.

Pipelines have been a controversial topic, especially following the protests of the the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).

More than 10 have been arrested after protesting the Sabal Trail Pipeleine — what many are calling Florida’s version of the DAPL.

    1. Our media has barely reported on it.

Today they ranted 24/7 about a cop who was killed by a black man in a Walmart parking lot. Sure, that’s newsworthy, but not to the exclusion of all else. But that’s what the media does; it distracts us with it’s juicy bone of the day why evil does whatever it damn well pleases, mostly unnoticed. People are having their homes stolen from them with this pipeline, and the water of five States is being put at risk (can you say PRIVATIZED and NESTLE)? We’re screwed if it goes through!

      2. Somehow I was surprised – I thought: Florida?? Really?? we'll hear

less about this than even the DAPL probably.  Note that I got this from a weather website totally by chance.

    3. I live in Florida. That pipeline would threaten a LOT of water. And would be

running right over sinkhole country.  I am sure that Rick Scott already has permits for it solidly in place.  And I am also sure that the Democratic party here in Florida won’t do one fucking thing about it.  Sounds like something DWS would actually be in favor of.

You think the only reason that people won't vote for a warmongering Third Way fracking-enabling cluster bomb throwing H-1B increasing lying pandering corporate and Wall Street shill who says she has no problem putting abortion rights on the table is because we are mad about Bernie?  Um, nope.

      4. FL has a treasure of clean water bubbling out of its limestone substrate.

Juniper Springs is an example; Silver Springs is another. There should never be a pipeline through limestone in my opinion.

    5. People of Florida are fed up with this massive crime against our environment.

This wholesale destruction of Florida’s pristine wetlands, wildlands and aquifers, for the private profits of those who want to move fracked gas to the coasts for export,  MUST. BE. STOPPED.

And Rick Scott belongs in prison.

Crucial backstory of the reviled Sabal Trail Pipeline is here.

More information is going mainstream now:

2 very active Florida-based web pages covering these local events in real time are here and here.

      6. Capitalism has always treated the environment as a free dump after it has

extracted  value from it for profit. Florida happens to have unique and very vulnerable natural resources that need

protection from those who would despoil them.

Scott is a eco-criminal, having stepped up to that from his nasty career in the “health” business.

    7. I had no idea this was going on

Already some properties were claimed via eminent domain to build the thing.
