Pipeline protests turn south: Floridians oppose new $3 billion pipeline
Another pipeline protest has flared up in the United States, but in Florida.
Pipelines have been a controversial topic, especially following the protests of the the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).
More than 10 have been arrested after protesting the Sabal Trail Pipeleine — what many are calling Florida’s version of the DAPL.dlegendary1, Gregorian, seafan and 7 othersdjean111, OCMI, Enthusiast, Lorien, A little weird, Pastiche, jwirr like thisI feel much better since I've given up hope.

1. Our media has barely reported on it.
Today they ranted 24/7 about a cop who was killed by a black man in a Walmart parking lot. Sure, that’s newsworthy, but not to the exclusion of all else. But that’s what the media does; it distracts us with it’s juicy bone of the day why evil does whatever it damn well pleases, mostly unnoticed. People are having their homes stolen from them with this pipeline, and the water of five States is being put at risk (can you say PRIVATIZED and NESTLE)? We’re screwed if it goes through!

2. Somehow I was surprised – I thought: Florida?? Really?? we'll hear
less about this than even the DAPL probably. Note that I got this from a weather website totally by chance.I feel much better since I've given up hope.

3. I live in Florida. That pipeline would threaten a LOT of water. And would be
running right over sinkhole country. I am sure that Rick Scott already has permits for it solidly in place. And I am also sure that the Democratic party here in Florida won’t do one fucking thing about it. Sounds like something DWS would actually be in favor of.
- *Obligatory disclaimer - when I say "Democratic Party" I mean the DNC - the Clintons and the un-elected people and the consultants and the lobbyists and the corporations who actually run things. The people who work and vote and are registered as "D" are no more the actual party than Trekkies are Star Trek. Extra credit - the Democratic Party gets to actually fuck up your life. When you vote for it.

4. FL has a treasure of clean water bubbling out of its limestone substrate.
Juniper Springs is an example; Silver Springs is another. There should never be a pipeline through limestone in my opinion."Sometimes I feel like Fletcher Christian..."

5. People of Florida are fed up with this massive crime against our environment.
This wholesale destruction of Florida’s pristine wetlands, wildlands and aquifers, for the private profits of those who want to move fracked gas to the coasts for export, MUST. BE. STOPPED.
And Rick Scott belongs in prison.
Crucial backstory of the reviled Sabal Trail Pipeline is here.
More information is going mainstream now:

6. Capitalism has always treated the environment as a free dump after it has
extracted value from it for profit. Florida happens to have unique and very vulnerable natural resources that need
protection from those who would despoil them.
Scott is a eco-criminal, having stepped up to that from his nasty career in the “health” business."Sometimes I feel like Fletcher Christian..."

7. I had no idea this was going on
Already some properties were claimed via eminent domain to build the thing.
and Scott already approved this shit
And right before that we had a massive sinkhole with radioactive waste into our aquafer
We’re fucked! These mofos at the DNC can lick mah balls! I'm not voting or supporting their 3rd way goons.
