A trend called “ICE-ing,” involving gasoline- or diesel-engined trucks blocking Tesla charging stations, may be picking up across the U.S.

The prank involves the owners of the trucks purposefully occupying the space in front of a row of public Tesla Superchargers so that owners of the electric vehicles won’t be able to top up their cars’ batteries, reports the Daily Mail.

The most recent case of ICE-ing drawing media attention was shared by a reddit user, Leicina, who photographed a group of young men in Hickory, North Carolina rendering a Tesla station half-useless by parking their lifted trucks in it.

The world is full of them and one has to pick their battles without perpetuating the madness.

I was at a 350.org protest with a few hundred people in attendance. A person in a Camaro with signs and a teapot glued to the trunk of his car showed up to the event (actual picture below). This person attempted to disrupt the protest by honking their horn and spinning the wheels in the parking lot. Three people from the protest went to talk with the person in the Camaro. Do not what was said, yet after 20 minutes of a discussion with the driver of the Camaro he left. No one was angry, no voices were raised, no more problem. The protest went on as planned.

ICE powered vehicles are rapidly becoming obsolete. I’ve been driving electric for almost 8 years and would never consider buying a new ICE vehicle.

Buying a gas car today would leave you with a financial “albatross” that has little resale value, warns Wall Street Journal.

      ~snip~

The choice is already obvious to Neil, especially since so many “exceptional electrics and hybrids will roll off the line over the next 18 to 36 months.”

So he is putting off his next purchase — a truck — two years until the all-electric Rivian R1T is available. The Rivian promises over a 400-mile range and 750 hp with superior hauling capability. It will go 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds.

To readers who want to buy an IC truck now, Neil has a warning: “You go ahead and finance that $70,000 pickup with V8 power for 60 months. It’ll be a two-ton albatross around your financial neck before it’s over.”

And the idiots blocking charging stations need their vehicles towed:

That’s not passive aggression, that’s aggressive aggression. Just how on earth is an electric car a threat to these mooks?

I’m aware of no situation whereby the existence of electric cars prevents any camo-clad yahoo from buying/owning a lifted monstrosity of a pickup truck.

Asshats need to start feeling consequences for their actions.

A lot of stupid people are capable of becoming smarter- many simply require some appropriate motivation.

If you give a man enough rope, it will be six inches too short. This is not the nature of rope- it is the nature of man.

Recently images of Tesla Superchargers have been circulating because they have been blocked by huge pickup trucks. This practice is called ‘ICEing’, named after an internal combustion engined car. This has a lot of EV owners furious, sometimes left with low range and nowhere to charge.

This video though, shows one Tesla owner taking action into their own hands, using their four-wheel-drive Model X to pull the huge pick-up truck out of the way.
