Prepare NOW to Primary the Corporatists

I live in the great State of Washington where Berniecrats have ‘taken over’ the party: we now own the state chair plus numerous county chairs.  Perhaps not surprising in a state that voted almost 4-1 for Bernie. Nevertheless we do have our problems: both our Senators couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Bernie’s Re-importation legislation and both are avid TPP supporters, while my Representative can’t bring himself to publicly support Medicare for All.

I draw the conclusion from the 2016 elections that superdelegates are the immediate problem that we must resolve if the goal is to ensure that Berniecrats have a seat at the table, if not at the head of the table (for now).  They are the subject of the DNC Unity Reform Commission:

“The Commission shall make specific recommendations providing that Members of Congress, Governors, and distinguished party leaders remain unpledged and free to support their nominee of choice,” reads the new rules language, “but that remaining unpledged delegates be required to cast their vote at the Convention for candidates in proportion to the vote received for each candidate in their state.”

    Also, see http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/inside-the-dnc-unity-reform-commission_us_58b9818de4b05cf0f3ffd657

Therefore we need to primary the hell out of our Members of Congress and our Governors, in every state and territory. Superdelegates must be Berniecrats: it’s the only way forward if our goal is to replace Trumpence & the Congress with progressives.

Sadly, a 3rd party cannot be expected to have an impact in the manner that we would want: its vote-splitting would usher in even more Repugs in 2018 races in various purple AND blue states, because it is unlikely the 3rd party would reach critical mass necessary for victory.  Let’s be practical: a single, coalesced progressive 3rd party won’t happen in time to position us to enact the changes we promote.

Like the Tparty, we must now BULLY the corporatists, because a 3rd party — one strong enough to achieve the electoral successes we need right now, not in 2024 — doesn’t appear to have nearly the enthusiasm that Bernie generated.

IOW, let’s follow Bernie’s lead … he’s never signalled even the slightest of interest in a 3rd party, so therefore it’s wishful thinking that he might in the near future. He is calling us to prepare to PRIMARY THE CORPORATISTS right now, right now, right now.

    3. Memorial Day and Rememberance Weekend-May 27-29, 2017

Perhaps those of us not going to a cemetery or Memorial Service might peacefully assemble in front of every lawmaker’s office carrying a sign that says that we are remembering their voting record for, and representation of the Working Class.  Even a few persons could do this just by walking along the sidewalk; we want those driving by to be a part of  Rememberance and Suffrage.  (Suffrage-the right to vote in a political election.)  Having the right to vote means we have a right to address grievances.
