Republicans who caricatured Pelosi as a “San Francisco liberal” were only half right. It’s true that she was a committed partisan, a New Deal Democrat in the mold of her father, three-term Baltimore mayor Tommy D’Alesandro Jr. Ensuring health coverage for all Americans was also a mission she saw as consistent with the lessons she learned from the nuns who had taught her at the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore and Trinity College in Washington. It was a matter of social justice, of following Jesus’s imperative to care for the least among us. (Kathleen Sebelius was another Trinity graduate; they dubbed themselves “the Trinity sisters,” at one point to the confusion of Obama, who looked around a meeting to find the nuns they were discussing.)

You gotta kind of wonder, at what point does the corporate media tire of lying on behalf of their neoliberal counterparts in government? Because apparently, we aren’t there yet.

By the way, this flowery tribute to Nancy Pelosi’s efforts during Obama’s health care reform contains NOT A SINGLE REFERENCE TO “public option”.

The sooner “Saint” Obama is exposed for the fraud he was / is, the better. Not holding out much hope on that account. The Dems version of “Saint” Ronnie which fits as Obama was economically no different.

Jellyfish Pelosi could have refused to put any bill up for a vote in the House that did not include a public option. For that matter, she could have insisted that HR 676 (Medicare for All) be brought up for a full vote.

She did neither.  Fuck the revisionist history. The venomous jellyfish is NOT in favor of real health care reform.

What she was pushing on the floor was one that was more expansive than what Obama was doing.

I do remember this, as at the time, I appreciated her for this and was very much upset with Harry Reid and Obama for being so weak about Health Care and how they triangulated to the Center and start negotiations at such a weak spot.  This in comparison to Nancy.

Stating that, I don’t actually know how hard she pushed or if it was all an act.  However, just because I dislike her now, I can’t just automatically forget how things were back then.  So yes, I did see her pushing for a more expansive program in Obama’s first term.

It was Obama himself who took out the Universal Healthcare off the table, and directed others to go further to the Right.

I do not believe she is in favor of real health care reform, but I did think she advocated for a few weeks or so, for something better, till she got her marching orders.  Obama is just a piece of shit.
