While in government, Rahm Emanuel repeatedly crushed any vision of a transformational agenda.

“The moment has come for our nation to deal with systemic racism. To deal with the growing economic inequity that exists in our nation, to deal with the denial of the promise of this nation.” No, that was not Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, or Elizabeth Warren speaking—it was Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee who once promised a room of wealthy donors that if elected, “nothing would fundamentally change” for them. As first a pandemic and now inescapable evidence of police brutality have racked the nation, Biden’s public rhetoric (and, by some reports, his private thinking) has undergone a significant change from his largely issue-free primary.

Still, one figure has been blabbing loudly about sidling up to the former vice president—a figure any reasonable onlooker can count on to crush the transformational change Biden seems to be embracing and which the country desperately needs. That figure, of course, is Rahm Emanuel.

Late last month, the Chicago Tribune’s Bill Ruthhart rounded up several interviews, panels, and the like in which Emanuel oh-so-casually mentioned his supposedly frequent conversations with the Biden camp. In a Washington Postarticle about Biden’s Rooseveltian turn, Emanuel is quoted saying, “He [Biden] now has to think policy-wise as a transformational president. It requires a whole different way to think about this.” A bit funny, since just a few months earlier, Emanuel complained on David Axelrod’s podcast, “What Biden is now saying is, ‘Well, the post-COVID world requires a revolution,’ and I’m surprised, because he did not win on the revolution model. He won on the reform model.” No one ever accused Emanuel of not knowing what to say to get in the papers.

How much of this is Emanuel trying to speak his own closeness to Biden into reality is unclear. The Biden campaign was so thin on policy throughout the campaign, and so reliant on outside counsel even now, that virtually anyone can self-proclaim as a “top adviser” without having to deliver much proof. As the Prospect’s Robert Kuttner has explained, the Biden campaign has denied the existence of policy task forces that have been confirmed by other sources. So getting to the bottom of who really has Biden’s attention can be a mug’s game.

He can go do anatomically impossible acts upon himself.

      *- in his own words.

One of the worst elements in the 30 year destruction of the Democratic party. When Obama’s first cabinet appointment was Rahm as Chief of Staff, I knew the candidate I voted for wasn’t going to have much resemblance to the president we got.

With a senile old fuck like Biden as President, this little prick’s influence could be even worse. I’m imagining a “Karl Rove” scenario here. Remember when they called him “Chimpy’s brain”?

I voted for some “hope and change”, and I was absolutely THRILLED at Obama’s victory…

But when I learned that Rahm was his CoS, it was like a punch in the gut. My blood felt like ice water for a timeless moment, and I was aware of every ounce of it.

I got conned by Barry Obama- more than anyone has ever conned me in my life. It hurt. It hurt a lot.

I also got conned and am ashamed because I am very skeptical.  But I knew I/we were had at Rick Warren.   Even with roses in my eyes I saw what Obama did.  He wanted his conservative friends to know at his inauguration that he had only contempt for the Left.   Of course the knock-out blow was Rahmbo.   Obama said a bit “frack you” to the left and never looked back.  He arguably did as much damage to our democracy as Bush, the Dim-Son.  Where Bushy violated the Constitution and international law, Obama normalized it.  Obama said that his side of the supposedly checks and balances, agreed with the other side, revealing that there are not two sides, there are not “checks and balances”.

      Worst man. Full stop.

At this or any other moment prior or future.

The field is not lacking for contenders you understand, but as far vivid azure blue-dogs go, this guy is the worst. Barring religious x-tain fundamentalism, there is zero difference between him and a teabagger republican.

        Huge plus one!

I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

“…Rahm Emanuel is (or ought to be) a disgraced figure within the Democratic Party. Emanuel was the mayor of Chicago when it covered up evidence of the murder of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald by officer Jason Van Dyke for over a year—while Emanuel was facing re-election. He went to court to prevent dashcam footage of a clear murder from being released, out of fear he’d lose his mayoralty…”

Rahm is a major player in a lot more stuff than he advertises. Being Mayor was nothing but a lark for him; his real “career” is behind the scenes, and his web of influence stretches far and wide.

are reasons why as bad as things get under Trump, I can never vote for Biden.  Imagine how Biden’s win would embolden this kind of toxicity within the Democratic Party.  He and his ilk remind me of the kind of invasive weeds I keep trying to eliminate in my garden.

The top priority of any mayor, governor or president is to keep citizens safe.  So yeah, he’s totally a failure.  But of course, we know that doesn’t preclude him from being given media coverage as a “top Democratic strategist”, lol.

…the rich got richer, and the soaring crime rates served their interests.

THAT was Rahm’s first priority as “Mayor”, and he fostered that agenda with a vengeance.

He’s an arrogant fuck who is nearly always wrong, and Jewish to boot. That could be very bad. The evil Jewish adviser card served on a platter to the real neo-Nazi types. Anybody still think there can be no one worse than Trump?
