WASHINGTON — Ahead of a House vote Tuesday calling for Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office, a growing number of Republicans are backing impeaching the president with roughly one week left in his term.
Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., a member of GOP leadership, announced Tuesday night she will vote to impeach the president.
“There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution,” Cheney said in a statement.
“The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not.”

my bets on he is removed one way or another, and a “unity” cabinet is formed to further shift the center to the right.

By Jove, I think you’ve stated the real reason for some Republicans change of heart. But this does nothing to eliminate the establishment of legalized bribery in the halls of Congress.

Does it also extend to Vice Presidents that lie us into unnecessary and illegal wars that we seem to be unable to win or end? Somehow I doubt it.

in federal court.
I will concede it’s nice to see her breaking ranks, but I will never be a fan.
In wikiing her, I learned something surprising: she and her sister Mary were both born in Madison, Wisconsin, and her parents were students at the UW-Madison, both the city and school being super-left politically.

Dick (Cheney) and Dubya were part of the never-Trumpers; Remember Trump was not verbally kind to Jeb. But it’s deeper than that. Anyway, the Rethugs never liked the T-Man, probably a majority of them. Now they can officially pretend that he’s the only goat that the Rethugs need to scape. Back to old-style Rethug evil! And it was obvious during the sordid Biden campaign that he was courting the never-Trumpers for votes, and I do think he’s liable to put one or more in his Cabinet.
