WASHINGTON — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says the thousands of people who attend the July 3 celebration for Independence Day at Mount Rushmore with President Donald Trump will not be required to practice social distancing despite an increase in coronavirus casesacross the country.

“We will have a large event at July 3rd. We told those folks that have concerns that they can stay home, but those who want to come and join us, we’ll be giving out free face masks, if they choose to wear one. But we will not be social distancing,” Noem, a Republican, said in an interview Monday night on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

State officials have told the people of South Dakota “to focus on personal responsibility,” said Noem, adding, “Every one of them has the opportunity to make a decision that they’re comfortable with.”

Makes purging a moronic population so much easier.

My Village cancelled our yearly summer festival because of the raging pandemic.

I’m so happy I live in a blue state. Although, personally, all my neighbors are RWers. 😠

Probably a lot more though, that they expose to the virus after their little event.

They have a right to risk their own lives by being stupid – but what about everyone else?

The virus doesn’t give a shit about red or blue, man.

Defy the rules. Show no consideration for others or their lives. If you truly love Trump, which is the same as loving America, you will risk your life and the lives of your friends and family. I hope there is a huge thunderstorm that makes the whole thing miserable for everyone. Big hailstones and a tornado that rips down all the propaganda banners. It would also be nice if the fireworks caught fire and all exploded on the ground. How about a massive traffic jam that causes an outbreak of gunfire? As the president flees in panic, he gets chewing gum caught on his shoe.

The virus doesn’t care, but at least some blue state politicians are doing something to control it. Unlike the fucking morons in Texas, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. Their numbers are out of Control. Why? Cause and effect . They completely opened their states and now the virus in their states is raging.

The problem is… there’s insane RWers in every state. You have no idea where they’ve wandered with no mask, so all states will continue to have cases because of those assholes.

Unfortunately, Cheeto scheduled his idiotic display for the 3rd.

Perhaps my Former Employer could move up his schedule by a day, and throw a lightning bolt right at his Orange face?

Seriously though, in addition to idiot MAGAtts putting themselves at risk for COVID 19, I’m actually more concerned about their dumb asses setting the entire Black Hills on fire with their stupid fireworks show. Seeing as Cheeto usually hires the most incompetent people he can find, on purpose, I’m sure that the pyrotechnicians on staff for this event will be “the best & biglyest people” to start a goddamned wildfire.

Supposedly it’s raining there today, but the rest of the week looks very warm & dry.

Maybe we should rent them a little room with no fans let them get nice and close. then they could all share the Chalice of trump wine and break some bread and share it around!

@incognito   we’re not all fucking morons here in North Carolina.  Our (D.) governor Roy Cooper has mandated masks in public spaces state-wide, and is not re-opening the state e.g. “going to phase 2,  or phase 3” until this crap improves.   i work at a health system in the Triangle region of NC, and while no one likes to see even one infected or suffering patient, our health system is not close to overloaded (touch wood– ‘cuz things are going to get worse), and NC is not out of control like TX. and FL.  I feel oddly safe working in our hospitals and clinics, where every single person must be masked, or ejected from the premises.  All employees in the grocery stores (two major regional grocery chains here are NC-based) are wearing masks, and 90%+ of shoppers I see are.   Folks at least in this region of NC are listening to medical experts who say masks do help.

Now, in western Carolina, it’s a different story (where many ‘insane right wingers’ you mention, live.)    Basically no one is wearing a mask or distancing out there- according to a friend who was out there last week. She was dumbfounded, it was that Night and Day between here and out west. She didn’t see a single person wearing one is close quarters to others.   And I don’t know how our governor totally enforces that.  That’s up to the local law.
