Sanders brushes off Clinton criticism: 'Look forward and not backward'

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON – 09/06/17 11:30 AM EDT

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday brushed off Hillary Clinton’s criticism of him in her new book about the 2016 presidential election, saying he’s not interested in playing the blame game.

“My response is that right now it’s appropriate to look forward and not backward,” Sanders told The Hill.

“I’m working overtime now to see we overturn Trump’s decision on DACA, pass a $15-an-hour minimum wage and next week I’ll be offering a Medicare-for-all single-payer system,” he said.

Sanders said he wants to focus on the legislative challenges at hand and not debate who is to blame for President Trump’s stunning electoral upset of Clinton in November.

In some cases, I think it is wrong to say “look forward, not backward” – for example, when it’s used to excuse lack of consequences for Bush & Cheney, torture, banksters etc.  But in this case, Bernie has it right.

Unfortunately there is a strong contingent of Hillary supporters who can’t let it go because deep inside they know they’re guilty and they can’t live with that guilt so they need to transfer it elsewhere.  (If they don’t know they’re guilty, then they’re completely delusional.)

    1. Ok, I get it. I think….

Correct me if I am wrong, please?

Are you saying Hillary lying in her book about Sanders is not worthy of anger? I understand Bernie saying to look forward because he just does not ever seem to get angry at anything the Dems do or say about him.

And the other thing you wrote.

“Unfortunately there is a strong contingent who can’t let it go because deep inside they know they’re guilty and they can’t live with that guilt so they need to transfer it elsewhere.  (If they don’t know they’re guilty, then they’re completely delusional.)”

Are you saying that those of us who did not vote for Hillary feel “guilty” “deep down” about it?

There is no snark. No anger. I just would like to know what you meant please.

      2. The opposite

I can’t understand why the Hillary camp is still re-fighting the primaries and why Hillary is putting out a book which re-opens wounds between us.  I believe those who supported Hillary know they enabled Trump by doing so, deep down, and feel guilty for it.  So they continue to attack Bernie and his supporters to try and transfer that guilt to us.  Either that or they are completely delusional.

(I edited my comments in the OP to clarify who I was talking about.)

    5. I would love to see a cartoon where Bernie is driving to Forward and you can see

an image of Hillary stumbling into her Hospice Van, in the rear view mirror.  Maybe some dust could start to bubble up to cover the Herself making a scene.

      6. I'd enjoy

      watching a movie about that.

The sequel would then need to be the rebuilding of a nation of many dumbed and corrupt minds.
